Well ...... what's the point of this kind of thread again ?

I'll maybe write more pointless feedback later, but in a nutshell it won't be particularly different than past 30 pages:

The good:

- off grid booster removal and replacement
- a bit half assed but still some attempt at t3d rebalance
- a big and meaty bone thrown to miners
- new citadel stuff
- new fitting window
- some new stuff to play with

The medicore / pointless change:

- new Aura; what was wrong with the old one ? (personally IDC about this change much if at all, but the old voice is certainly better than the new one; did you have some legal issues related to the old stuff ?)

The bad:

- new irritating OVERSIZED popups telling me (with no way to turn this off) how much skills i have to learn and other pointless stuff for every single junk I mouse over, while at the same time making the only useful information (price) nearly invisible and removing another one completely (whole stack value)
- new skill part of character window, which is overengineered desperate-at-being-pretty laggy mess: cannot add multiple skills at once, doesn't show pri/sec attributes per skill, doesn't show amount of learnt sp per skill/group, uses screen estate in pretty terrible way (you do know that monitors generally have width > height ?), wastes 1/3 or vertical space for background and face (why ? what for ?). New character screen (or rather its skill part) to old one is like dotlan maps to new map (and old map as well to lesser extent). Hope you get the analogy.

Anyway - in the context of expansion itself it's quite good - with major bad points being new character window (seriously listen to damn feedback for a change - it doesn't need that many changes, but it DOES need them), irritating popups and Aura - but these being vastly outweighted by good parts (imho).

Sadly, the bad parts join in execution and design traits:

- new nearly knobless map with fundamental issues unfixed for ~year by now, disqualifying it as a map; the main good part of it being a neocom icon that has a color
- new market graphs (at their current iteration, and I'm not holding my breath for much real changes coming)
- new still lacking essential functionality camera
- new tactical window with curved proections and more bling forced down out throats with no knobs or shortcuts to change or alter it on the fly to normal vertical projections and a sphere (which are notably more useful in some scenarios)
- new probe dialog window still having bugged filter selections
- new nearly knobless probe map with dscan/probes having same damn color and no knobs to adjust it (or general bubble intensity) or nearly anything for that matter (including major damn gripe of accidental bubble grabbing - forced down our throats with no knob to disable it even if there are 3 (three) other ways do resize them and even if one of sisi iterations had this cancer turned off).
- new monochromatic (that's just stupid) barely differently looking neocom icons

And a few lesser but no less irritating regressions, such as ninja removal of tab window minimizing to titlebar, removal of rgb sliders, forced window snap in, forced transparency when pinned down ....

This thread is so full of tears, amazing.

Looks like the "Adapt or die" is only for the newbies, not for the long-standing veterans?

New voice? Ok, different, but not the end of the world.

New character sheet? After minimizing the picture and the skill section it's not so bad. The missing skill points in the tooltip was patched in today, so I'm positive that other minor issues will get fixed soon.

Omega icons look different? Ok, why not. And btw: It's not totally useless for Omegas to know this. I think it could be useful for traders to see if an item can be used by Alphas or not.

And thx to CCP that the ship fitting screen finally shows the Time to Warp! It was a pain to calculate this.

I really hope that CCP will address some really important issues and improvements after Ascension is stable.

I always thought CCP is the kind of a company that listens to it's players or at least this was the impression. I always thought this is what differentiates them from giants like Blizzard and this thought made me fall in love with EVE and CCP in the first place. If this new voice problem isn't going to be fixed I will be so disappointed in CCP. Basically, because I feel that the whole system of beliefs I had about CCP was built on a total lie.

This is not us resisting to change is us kindly telling you that you made a small mistake and we would like you to fix it. I'm using the word "kindly" because the next question would be "How many of your hard earned and loyal paying customers you need to loose in order to treat this problem seriously?"

Just don't treat us like small minded peasants and tell your Devs that a reply like that, not only is not worthy of your status, but is borderline insulting.

I like the new Aura. It was a bit of a shock at first bit I'm used to it now. I really like that key phrases are shorter (in seconds) now, too.

The new Aura sounds like an uptight school teacher, or someone who enjoys inhaling helium.

Please bring the old Aura back.

Upon further reflection, the new Aura sounds like a 33 rpm LP being played at 45 rpm.

This is not a signature.

The new character sheet is the first and only window with a fixed lenghts to high ratio which is a ffing disaster. I have a 24inch monitor and I can't make it as big or small as I like! Not to mention that it is still broken for 2 of my alts.

I'm still just pissed off about the change of Aura's voice. And the way CCP is (and isn't) responding to it certainly doesn't help.

I realize that you guys at CCP most likely have an attitude of "nobody likes changes, but they'll adapt" right now. But I can assure you, it is much more serious than that.

Have you any idea what kind of an impact it has on the game when you get annoyed every time you warp or dock a station? Especially when, at times, you do this every couple of seconds?

In the end I decided to just mute her voice because I came to realize that most of the time I was feeling more annoyed than ejoying myself while playing this game that I have come to love so much. Not at all the way I would've liked to solve this, of course. And I can't imagine you feeling good about your players doing this either.

By now I have, kind of, come to terms with the fact that you had to re-record her lines. I understand why. But why did you have to do such a shoddy job at it? That I don't understand. Because these new recordings simply just don't sound good. Not at all, in fact.
I mean, come on... Right now it sounds like two different women saying "Docking permission requested" and "Docking request accepted". Who in heaven's name OK'ed this?

If you had to hire a different voice actress this time, for whatever reason that might've been, then couldn't you at least have done your best to make these new recordings sound as similar as possible to the previous ones so as not to change the overall atmosphere and sound of the game? Couldn't you at least have done us that favor?

If that is indeed what you were aiming for then I'm sorry, but you have failed miserably. And I demand (I believe I can make demands since you expect me to pay you) that you either re-record it or fix the current recordings.
If, on the other hand, you purposefully went a different direction with regards to the sound of her voice, then I demand an explanation as to why exactly you thought this was a great idea.

I sincerely hope that you will have the common decency to give us a (kind and proper this time, please) response on this matter. Especially since such a vast amount of your customers have shown themselves to be dissatisfied with this.
And I can assure you, it's not just us on the forums who are dissatisfied. I have spoken to enough people in-game to be able to conclude that we are just the tip of the iceberg. The ones who are at least taking the time to make themselves heard.

Finally, I would like to end on a positive note, and say that I genuinely am happy with pretty much all of the other changes you have implemented. Some will take some time to get used to, sure. But they don't bother me.
So thank you for that, and overall I think compliments are in order for taking the game through this rough transition.

You said it brother. I second that motion!

Suggestion about fitting management.

At the moment, when I open the saved fits, I find it too much condensed, without enough contrast to see clearly each part. It looks like more a big amount of text with icons than anything else...
Another "issue" is the complexity to export fit (we already had):

  1. find your ship category
  2. select your faction
  3. select your ship
  4. select your fit
  5. save as ..
  6. select what you need.

Well, fine. It's a bit too much of clicks required, don't you think ?

Solutions (for both problems) :

  1. add some contrast on fit names (like darkening a little bit the line ?)
  2. allows us to configure the display a little bit :

    • Display / Hide ship icons (or put everything inline, at the same size you put factions)
    • Collapse / Expand everything
    • Hide tree (have everything at the same level, without tree)

  3. Add "export to clipboard" in the right click contextual menu on the fits, just behind "multifit" for example (this one especially would save a lot lot lot of time...)

Thanks.

I posted this somewhere else... I'll leave it here - soon CCP will be able to synthesize Aura's voice exactly as the old one and have her say whatever they need her to:

Hi,

Thanks for the great job you are doing at CCP. I love many of the features you added in this last expansion, especially the fitting tool which is awesome =)

Yet, some UI design are in my opinion overly cumbersome :

- Skill queue does not show training time multiplier anymore. It is important info i would like to have back on the main window please.

- Omega status visual distinctions are everywhere (highlight on items, logo in ship tree, on info panels, etc.) Please add some way to disable these "adverts" when omega state is activated.

- Aura new voice is awful, or at least not my taste at all (and its volume is wrongly balanced by default). Can we please have the option to use the old one again ?

- Finally, it is very minor, but I think the skill queue would be read better if names were organized vertically :
1 4
2 5
3 6
instead of :
1 2
3 4
5 6

I hope someone from CCP will read this and give it a thought. They are not big changes and I genuinely believe it would improve the game playability comfort a lot.

Thanks, bb

OK I understand that for some reason CCP can not keep the old voice of AURA.
But it is necessary that we have in the ship this new ?, it is horrible.

Make another one better please !!!
