Bring back old Aura voice.

Cant remember the last time i used sound in EvE Shocked


EDIT: Turned sound on to see what all the hype was about and yep it sucks. Turned it back off again

I have been using it less and less since ccp started taking out cool sounds like the gate sounds

but really all the new content is welcome but sucking the soul out of eve is not, Another example would be the neocom

Aura's voice was smooth and cool, this one one has a terrible accent and the voice itself distracts in a bad way. It's CCP doing the "that'll do" thing again.

Any way of turning off parts of EVE sound?
The new Aura voice saying "Warp drive active" is getting on my nerves something awful... Ugh

I knew there would be this thread...

To put it in perspective:
I think Ascension is one of, maybe THE best expansion since a very long time (Retribution is my favourite with the T1 rebalance which brought so much activity).
Now we have a great expansion again with something in the bag for everyone (even miners! :-D)

But... Aura... OMGWTFWHY????
I mean I can imagine the reason, they needed some more texts and the old actor was not available.
But I cannot get why something this technically simple (and presumably much cheaper than implementing all those features) can be done wrong in such a great expansion. These things DO matter. It's a few silly flavour voice texts in a gigantic game, but it has a measurable impact on the overall gaming experience. We got a ton of cool things and all over the cluster the local chatter was about Aura. For the sake of the argument, please CCP search for "AURA" in all local chats.

This totally breaks immersion and ruins my warping experience!
Warping is serious business and not some funny joke.
Please fix.

I am not sure what worries me more... that people at CCP actually consider the new voice good, or that the SiSi feedback was completely ignored.

Reminds me of that letter from CCP CEO a few years back when they admitted that for Dust they degraded Eve, that they have learned their lessons and that this will never happen again. Now, CCP, please ask yourself: are you doing that right now? Are you listening to the players?

Eve had soul ... now it's just a shell. Ten years with Aura's soothing voice and now this cheap plastic replacement. That makes me really sad Sad

Guess we should be gratefull that in advanced audio settings we can mute her, and only hope for an outrage like with famous "GONG".

First CCP ruined neocom and now Aura. I can't believe how terrible her new voice is. She sounds pretty much like the opposite of old Aura.

To clarify:

I am aware that for various reasons, "bring back the old voice" may not be feasible.
But the new version is crappy, CCP should be able to do way better than that.

It's not only that one special Aura voice (others might do as well), but the whole intonation and everything just do not fit to the "spaceships are serious business" paradigm.
Very poor overall quality of this "feature".

(I can only hope this does not ruin the experience in "new player experience" as well, that would be dramatic)

Proposal for a fix:
Different voices in the new player experience and "serious" veteran ships (if the NPE is the reason for this mess).

If that is not possible, please do tell her at least that it's WARP DRIVE, not WUP DRIVE.

I like to think that EVE is an immersive experience. For some of us the sound plays an important role. So please do something with the new voice. Not only is fake and inappropriate but it's really really annoying. I know it's not cool to generalize but for me it's ruining the whole experience.

Please fix this somehow. Thank you

Who thought that was a good idea, its actually annoying, and I never paid the least bit of attention to the old one.

EvE goes free to play.

We get the Budget Aura.

Just wait for the new and improved Aura, available free with omega account.

Just look in the NES store next to the gold ammo and above the instant repair modules. Big smile

The CSM gets in the way of CCP communicating properly with the players of this game.

After all we are not just players, we are customers.

Time for the CSM to be disbanded.

Agree. I am really liking the expansion, but Aura why.... Shocked

I dont know if it is the voice so much, but just the speed of it, its all very urgent and very fast, if it was slower paced I dont think it would be as bad. Docking and undocking sounds like shes trying to win a speed talking competition.

I love the expansion but why oh why when Aura says "warp drive active" does she sound like bluebottle from the goonshow?

Lower the voice by an octave and slow it down by 2%.
Very easy to do with even cheap ****** sound software.
