Auras new "voice":

It has nothing to do with change being scary.

It has to do with smearing over a Rembrandt with acrylics!

After short consideration and giving it very little thought, i too believe the old Aura voice was better. Give her back to us please Smile

New Aura is kinda quick spoken, as if she has an improperly calibrated speech timer. Speech for her to us is, after all, a nicety, as it's far more convenient for her to project information and read data. Shouldn't she at least be calibrated to a speed that is pleasant, doesn't give the impression of something about to happen that she has to speak very quickly for so she can say it all before something happens. The voice itself is different. It's just how quickly she speaks.

2-Form Authentication Bug = WORKAROUND

I see this sort of bug all the time at work, especially after a new software upgrade. I fixed (both of) my accounts in a single go:

1) Log into ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT. Do the 2FA square dance as normal.
2) Go to ACCOUNT INFO
3) Open up the 2FA Options menu and ENABLE IT. Confirm with code. Refresh ACCOUNT INFO page.
4) Open up the 2FA Optiosn menu and DISABLE IT. Refresh ACCOUNT INFO page.
5) LOG OUT. WAIT 60 SECONDS. LOG IN and confirm the "updated settings" have taken effect.

Fly safe! :D

this isn't working.. when i try to log into my alternate account.. it automatically takes me to the sending email confirmation screen.. so account management is now fully blocked.

way to go CCP really.. and thing about it.. i made sure i updated all my email information just last night and still am running into the problem of waiting for an email that has yet to show up. and yes ive confirmed my email address as well.

It's too fast, too high pitched, and sounds way too human for an AI. Plus apparently some of the old recordings are still mixed in with the new ones making it all just sound like a mess.

When docking a station you first hear a new recording of "Docking permission requested" followed by the old recording of "Docking request accepted." In other words; two different voices with varying intonations, articulations, and speeds.

I'm sorry CCP but I just don't get this. There's was absolutely nothing wrong with the old voice of Aura so this change was completely unnecessary. This is just changing stuff for the sake of changing somthing.
Also, as others have also mentioned in another thread, changing the voice of Aura touches the soul of EVE and, for me anyway, is a much bigger change than any of the other changes you have implemented in a long long time.

Hear Hear. I just can't get used to it.

I'm perfectly okay with all the other changes that have been implemented and feel that I just have to take the time to get used to them. But why, why??, change the voice of aura? Completely unnecessary...

Now I just feel annoyed everytime I warp.

I wish CCP would just revert to the old voice but since they paid for a new voice actress, and apparantely saw a reason to change it in the first place, I guess we won't see that happen. ...However much that might hurt Cry

Yes, the new voice actor jarred at first, but I'm gradually getting used to it. For me, the pluses are the increase in pace and the distinct lightness of the tone.

Aura is meant to impart information; I don't really expect to have an emotional bond with her (this isn't HAL). After a while I expect I won't even notice the voice - as happened with that of the previous actor.

The character sheet and skill stuff has completely thrown me, but I'm sure that once I know where what I need is located, I'll be fine.

Niggle? Mouse-over info on my looted modules. The estimated price text is just a bit too faint for me. But it's great that you've increased the visibility of the text of the items themselves. Very welcome.

That's all for now. Congratulations to the Team/s!

Overall I am on board with MOST things... but having said that.

OH MY FV$KING GAWD... The New AURA VOICE IS HORRIFIC!!!!!!

I seriously thought it was a joke on test...

This new voice is more aggravating that nails on a damn chalkboard. BRING BACK the sexier, slower, more aloof Aura we all have come to know and love....

If you wont do that is there somewhere I can just turn this new atrocity off without affecting anything else soundwise???

Well its just that, yeah she's an AI, but she actually now sounds like a British woman in the seat next to me speaking at the side of my head with an annoyingly clipped tone.

(I ofcourse have zero issue with the British accent, i like that, but the clipped manner of speaking is awful)

Amarr cannot train missiles even though the Dragoon and Arbitrator have launcher hardpoints.

Minmatar can only field a maximum 3 drones even though the Stabber and Rupture can field 5 drones. Furthermore, they (as well as the Caldari) can only train light drone operation to level 1. I would assume that the ships are balanced with their drones in mind. Thus making them suboptimal.

Suggestion: Drone and missiles skills should be equal for all factions.

Races like the Amarr and Caldari are, for all practical purposes, locked into one form of effective tanking. Alphas who play these factions will be at a disadvantage when it comes to different fleet doctrines. For instance, if people are running shield fleets Amarr alphas are going to be excluded.

Suggestion: Limit players to one "alliance". I.e. Amarr/Caldari or Gallente/Minmatar. However...

Gallente have no downsides. Not much of a surprise there. As far as I recall CCP has always shown blatant and unapologetic favoritism toward the Gallente. Missile skill deficiency doesn't hurt them. They can both shield or armor tank. They have arguable the best T1 frigate, faction frigate and cruiser and objectively the best rookie ship (hehe) and T1 destroyer. Gallente alphas have a clear advantage over non-Gallente.

Suggestion: I would say "see above suggestion", but the fact remains that the Gallente are superior to the other factions given the alpha limitations. Even the Minmatar have some advantages in their tank flexibility. Any alpha with access to Gallente ships will have an advantage as Gallente are better in the T1 frigate to cruiser range. So I'm going further: No faction locking at all. People are probably going to have to make 4 accounts (they are free after all). That's being the case, why even bother with the 1 faction limit on ships? If they want to disable pirate faction ships, then just block those specific ships from alphas.

4. Physical appearance dictating you options. If I want to be African I can only fly republic ships as an alpha. Meanwhile, every other race is represented in every faction. Suggestion: Race should no longer force you into a faction. Even in the lore their are minmatar living in the Federation, Empire and State and the same for other races.

Isn't it kind of unfair not to warn new players that Gallente alphas are the Alpha Master Race? Save them some headache later on :)

Agreed...

To me its kind of like changing out the lead singer of your favorite band with Steve Urlke after gender re-assignment surgery...

It's freaking horrible!!!!!!!

I agree with the previous posts about the new Aura.

I would much rather keep the old Aura voice for all the existing stuff like Warp Drive Active, Docking Request Accepted, etc.

Unless I am doing the NPE, I don't care about any of the new voice stuff.

Been playing Eve since 2006 and do not want to lose the old Aura voice.

Please give us the option to choose. kthx.

Aura's voice was alluring, soothing blending in well with the calm beauty of the universe and EVE's wonderful music.
The new Character Sheet is not as clear, concise and easy to navigate as the old one.
The new golden outline around ships that only omega states can use may be helpful for alpha clones, I find it distracting.

Please add an option "Try the new voice" and "Try the new character sheet". Smile Thanks.

What's with the annoying golden borders?

If you need alphas to not be able to use a module, how about just grey it out for them....

This golden border is an eyesore. Please remove.

This is an issue with direction as much as with the actor. Most professional voice actors are trained to have an instrument which is supple enough to suit a variety of demands made by modern-day producers.

But if the person directing the performance isn't sure exactly what he/she wants, and is the sort of director who'll 'know it when I hear it' - then problems can arise.

I understand perfectly the points being made about this, but without seeing the spec for the job it's impossible to point the finger with confidence.

You also mention the audio quality and placement. There, I think, you do have a point, but that could be sorted relatively simply, and I trust the folks who look after that area will take note.

Pity the poor voice actor, asked to voice an AI but not sound like something out of one of Rhiload's excellent presentations!

Yes, please CCP, give us the option to choose between both voices.
Just have the new one as default so that new players won't know better, but at least give old players the option to keep using the old voice.
That would really be fantastic.

How did you "approach"? There are three ways to do that -- right click and select approach, hold left click and select approach from the radial menu, lift click on the debris and select approach from the menu upper right. Try the two you didn't use -- when testing the NPE on SISI I found that you frequently needed to use the EXACT method Aura failed to tell you she wanted this time.

The station atmosphere is disappointingly still not ready for capsuleer consumption.

Also ditto regarding Auras new voice, does not fit in this game.

But on the other hand, you added a lot of new features you can now fix and improve again in the next updates!

It will be interesting to see how many new players you can reach with this update. - Good luck with that!
