Just interesting, how big is our community?

Sisi test feedback typically runs 20 to 1, Windows to OSX. But I do not know if Mac users are over or under represented on the tests, or reporting feedback.

I've heard the number 5% bandied about. It could really be a little higher because of the users who boot into Bootcamp. They wouldn't show up in CCP's stats on Mac users.

So, finally ...
350000 registered accounts. Half of them as second account.
5% is 8750 players.

Thanks a million for answers.

I play on a mac a few hours a week. And that should be reason enough for a native client.

I am pretty sure that poll included iOS and Android in the mix as well as OSX. Either way i like it.

However, when you are only making games for 2 OS's, you would probably only tend to compare those 2, and it is probably more tipped to windows than 50%

In all honesty i dont care if i am behind a bit on graphics and stuff if im on a mac client. Aslong as it performs well.

That said, if CCP skilled up in OPENGL, OPENCL and related fields they could make a kickass client that easily equals the windows side.

AND, they only have to make a openGL and coreaudio component and dedicate time to it. Most other stuff like sprites and graphics, sounds, gameengine and all that are universal but just need to be compiled in a different way so it works on a non windows computer.

I can't imagine that splitting the team in 3 core groups is that hard. One for universal content, one for windows specific dev and one for mac specific dev. That would benefit everyone greatly and im sure attract a buttload of new players.

The number would probably go up if ccp made a client for patching sisi similar to the one for windows. I cant be arsed to do a manual install to basically do ccp's work for them.

Also, almost every SiSi test is EU TZ, where Mac has a smaller market share than the US compared to winblows
