Eve on Steam after Ascension free?

I haven't seen the answer to this anywhere yet. Will the price drop down to free on Steam after the Ascension expansion?

On a semi-related note-

Does steam automatically download the patches without having the eve launcher running in the system tray?

My pretend-OCD hates having excess icons down there all the time.

Stop calling an Abaddon "abba-dawn".  It is "uh-bad-in" dictionary.com/abaddon

Steam pricing is up to Valve.

Not sure what they're doing as far as the launcher.

I don't see why it wouldn't be, otherwise the steam version would just die. (which it should, really. There's no point to it.)
