How's it going guys? Tried finding any EVE writers back at FanFiction.net but alas, not much worth the effort. I figured that I'd try here next but I suppose I should have just come here in the first place huh? That is, if this is the right spot in the forum to post this. If it's not the right spot just point me in the right direction. If it is, then here's my story; A Brutal Reality.

The story in question

I'm writing a Stargate/Battlestar Galactica/EVE Online threeway crossover which I really enjoy writing. I've just started getting the civilizations of New Eden involved in the story after realizing how well the tech, backstory, and scale meshed with what I was building in my previous story (The current story is the sequel). But I myself am quite new to EVE itself, so some of the backstory on the civs I am not as familiar with as I'd like, so I'm asking for help in that regard along with a few other things.

1) How would the civs and Capsuleers react and act to arriving in the Milky Way Galaxy of Stargate SG-1 after being forced out of New Eden by a sudden offensive by the Drifters?

2) Would the political alliances of the Amarr and Caldari along with the Gallente and Minmatar be affected, if at all?

3) How would the gate network be reseeded in the Milky Way so that their ships can move without the use of Titan Jump Bridges?

4) Would they even bring their Titans with them? And if so, how many and what would it take for them to deploy them?

5) How well do the ships, weapons, shields of EVE Online match up against those of Battlestar Galactica and Stargate SG-1? As in, what would it take for either side to destroy one another's ships?

Lastly I'm certain people are going to say: "The humans of New Eden came from a future Earth". I know, I'm changing that, creative license. What I'm doing with their origin story is that I'm replacing it with one that involves changing the origin story of the Jove.

It is quite simple, the Furlings (A powerful and intelligent race from Stargate) had tried teaching the Jove up in the hopes of leaving a guardian to help foster growth and peace in the Milky Way, but things didn't work out and the Jove had to get kicked out, and they fled through the Eve Gate to New Eden, where much of their civilization fractured and crumbled and the four empires rose in their place while a small segment remained out in Jove Space. The Drifters were the original Jove that had come from the Milky Way, learning and adapting and building up to retake New Eden. However the Capsuleers had been able to kept them in check but at a loss of many clones which the Jove took, rebuilt into new biological forms, and regained enough numbers that not even the Capsuleers were able to hold. CONCORD tried after that, but was wiped out in an attempt to buy time enough for the empires to evacuate their people. So an exodus began back to their old ancestral galaxy, which is where the story shall occur.

So with that in mind I'd be very appreciative of any help and advice I can get from you guys. I'll more than likely have more questions as they come up, but I figured I'd start with this.

My SG-1 and BSG knowledge is very rusty, so I might be wrong, but I suspect EVE tech with capsuleers behind it would roflstomp everything those others have. Except, people under Stargate Command could probably asspull a series of MacGuffins to win.

I can't really say anything to 1,2, or 3 - But obviously for the 4th, they would bring their titans with them. They are their biggest guns and mobile starbases basicly, if I were writing a story such as yours I would say they were using the Titans to evacuate people. I would say the upper limit of what the titans could carry would be somewhere around 200,000-350,000 people, if packed to the brim. Crew guidelines say they can hold about 147,000 crew, on maximum capacity, but that is not taking in to account of utilizing every nook and cranny of the ship.

Actually scratch that, they are so huge if you actually utilized every space possible you could possibly stuff millions of people in there... They would not have any personal space and would have to poop out the airlock because the life support systems would not be designed for such amount of people, but you probably could fit a lot of people in there in an emergency situation. EVE Titans dwarf many other ships from science fiction, even so called "city" or "world ships." and only universes with bigger ships are typically more science fantasy than fiction (Star Wars, WH40k).

As for the 5th, I believe, from purely technical standpoint, EVE would wipe the floor with BSG and SG-1 at least until we turn to the Ori or other high end races or decide that there are no shields for example. BSG would be hopelessly outgunned by nearly all sides - the reimagined series at least, original Galactica would have had more powerful laser weapons than the Amarr do. The new Galacticas most damaging weapons are high-yield nukes and frontal gun batteries, EVE shields however can shrug off the energy of very high yield nuclear explosions quite easily. Even the Nova light missiles someone has counted have a yield of something like 7 megatons of TNT and it just goes up from there, and IIRC Galacticas ubernukes are about 4 megaton yield.

I am sourcing this mainly from several other, earlier threads, calculations from other series found by google and gut feeling.

Thanks guys really appreciate it. And as I thought I might I have another question, it's a bit more specific.

The Avatar has a great big bow hangar entrance doesn't it? Realistically would it have a tractor beam in it to bring damaged vessels aboard and what would the dimensions of that hangar entrance be?

I'm sure someone with the mathematical aptitude could provide you with accurate-ish measurements but just eyeballing and comparing to the size of the rest of the Avatar, the hangar opening looks to be about a kilometer wide and one and a half high. Possibly twice that, even.

I would go with the in-game view that a ship doesn't have a tractor beam - not one powerful enough to draw in other ships at least - unless fitted. I faintly recall very, very old fluff on how the looting in this game works - with minuscule drones and tractor beams - but those would not be powerful enough for anything else obviously and frankly I suspect they even are a thing in the current lore.

I don't know how you are portraying EVE ships on your story, do they have specific fittings? If so, your Avatar would be sacrificing something more useful for having a tractor beam array attached to it.

E: I will have to rescind my earlier estimate, the best Galactica nukes are apparently 50-100 megaton range (what the basestars used while nuking Caprica), which is around the yield of an EVE torpedo, and a Titan would shrug those off like nothing, unless you have thousands of them hitting it simultaneously. Basicly, BSG is ****** badly.

Stargate Universe can only really put up a fight and that is only with ships like the Asgard and Ori have, which could pose a signifigant threat to subcaps, but Titans could oneshot even them, because Titan DD is thought to be in excess of 100 teratons, basicly, a fuckton of energy that is already hard to comprehend and still could "only" devastate a planets atmosphere, not a whole planet, assuming these people I'm sourcing this from, have calculated their stuff correctly.

I have a fit-master from my corp helping me with fits. Along with a few special add-ons that would just make sense like flak guns that I've seen in the EVE Valkyrie Super Carrier Trailer/Demo. It would make sense for that to be the case, especially with drones and fighters being so important. As for the Avatar itself are there any inages out there of what the interior of these ships and stations would like?

As for the BSG and SG tech I've made some modifications and developments to them that have happened as a consequence of the happening of the previous chapters and the first story (The one where Eve comes into play is a sequel). The Battlestars and their cruiser escorts have a new weapon, a Magnetic Cannon, similar to the one used by the UNSC from Halo, in the context of my story it has the effective hitting power of many powerful nukes focused on one small impact point. The SG fleet Earth now fields I've greatly increased in firepower, with battleship sized combatants fielding over twenty Asgard Plsma Beams and a much more powerful shield. Their deadliest weapon is now a cruise missile fitted with a nuke and a hyperdrive to bypass shields and thick flak screens. The inspriation came from an episode of SG-1 where and F-302 piloted by O'Neill and Carter used their hyperdrive to jump into the shield of a Gou'ald ship and damage its main weapon. So Earth engineers just thought, "why not just fit a missile with a hyperdrive and eliminate the middle man?" And so the Valkyrie was born.

(However webs and scrams work on both sides' ships, so a bubble can cause one of these missiles to malfunction if it enters.)

I will also modify some of the tech such as the stargates to adhere to the physics explained in SG-1, as the way it is explained there is more detailed.

Let's not forget the effective range of the warships of Eve Online. The range can go from between 500m to upwards to 100km or more, depending on ship type and weapon type plus size. A Battlestar is going to get alphaed long before it even sees the Naga that's firing those railgun volleys at them.

A Minmatar warship is like a rusting Beetle with 500 horsepower Cardillac engines in the rear, armour plating bolted to chassis and a M2 Browning stuck on top.

Well their main battery won't get in range, but the magnetic cannons I have on them have a range quite a bit more than 100km. Basically, in the previous story whoch happened prior, the Colonial Battlestars got an upgrade meant as a way to try and deal with Earth's shielded warships. It's pretty much a Halo MAC, except with several fitted to a battlestar. The range of this weapon can reach well beyond most Eve weapons save a doomsday. Although I'm still kinda debating about the engagement ranges for my story, I'll probably bump them up for realism's sake.
