Alliance fight club. Is betting on the winners allowed?

EULA says that "third party" betting is not allowed. What does third party mean in this context? Are they referring to an outside source, like a website with slot machines, are they referring to someone that is not partaking in the betting themselves, or are they referring to any type of betting not controlled directly by CCP?

For example, are we not allowed to, on the fly, bet that I will be able to kill a carrier that my small gang just tackled? Can I bet that my battleship will not collapse the hole I am jumping through?

I submitted two support tickets, but each time they were closed within 30 minutes with a generic message about trying to recover isk that I may have lost gambling.

Let's be a little realistic here. Unless reported by a friend or one involved with chat logs submitted, how would CCP even know you just bet your mates that you could kill that carrier before support arrived? How would CCP even know or find out? That's like vettomg your brother 5$ on who will win a specific football match. Yes it may arguably be illegal, but unless your brother rats you out, who would even know?

Also, go read the planned EULA again. I pretty sure the term "Games of Chance" is invoked. Yes, the carrier scenario involves chance, but I highly doubt anyone would consider it to be a "Game of Chance".

Honestly, you probably already know the answer to your question. CCP could care less what you and your friends bet on over team speak. As long as it does not involve a 3rd party website/sevive and "games of Chance", it probably doesn't matter. The change is simply to stop gambling sites like I Want Isk or similar. Stop trying to be an internet lawyer trying to get CCP to say something you can twist around and enjoy the game instead of worrying.

That said, I don't represent CCP in any way So I could be wrong.

As long as your legit betting is actually a scam you're all good!

Isn't the EULA change:

"You may not use, transfer or assign any game assets for games of chance operated by third parties"

There is nothing in that, that prevents what you want to do based on what you've written. An in game fight club with ISK transferred between the participants isn't a third party operated game of chance.

To extend from your reddit thread - what if someone wants to bet but not take part in the fight club? Then hopefully someone smarter than me knows, what that would technically be.

I would think the best approach is:

- The first rule of fight club, is don't talk about fight club.

If you can all manage that, you can do whatever you like.

A third party is every service provider outside the relationship player <-> CCP. Hence games of chance (bets, lotteries, etc.) using CCP properties (ISK, ingame stuff) between player <-> player is against the EULA. The media, place where this happens is not relevant.
