null sec scanning

Hey folks,

I just started playing EvE a while ago and scanning is definitly a profession I'd like to do.
I scanned earlier in nullsec and encountered a "Ghost Site" so basicly I died and lost everything (not that much of a problem)
My research revealed that Ghost Sites always seem to go by the name "covert research facility" with some other prefixes depending on the region/faction they're found in.
My question now: What other sites beside the ghost sites should I be afraid of in 0.0?
I know that there are relic and data sites that contain rats but are some out there working the same way the ghost site does?
So basicly are rats spawning after I fail for example to hack a container? If so, do they scramble me?
I dont know much about null sec exploration so that is why I am asking.

And for those of you who want me to stay out of 0.0, is it because you think I lack experiece or I'm stealing your loot, forget it.
I play this game for fun and sitting in high sec doing mission running isn't what I want to do.

no, only ghost sites work that way.

i think sleeper caches also show up as data site but im not shure. they are incredibly hard to scan down.
never done one. i have heard you can die there.

in drone space you will find only data sites. these are different from all the other data sites in 0.0.
they can spawn rats if you fail a hack.

how to do ghost sites:

use a fast ship and a cargo scanner.

as soon you initiate warp to the ghost site a timer starts running. the timer is random.
if the timer runs out some npc warp in and explode the cans.

if you warp directly to the site you waste valuable time. instead, warp to a celestrial as close as possible
to the ghost site and then warp in.

target all the cans and scan them with the cargo scanner.
as soon as you scanned the can you want to hack; mwd to it, hack, loot and gtfo.

if you fail a hack or take too long, your dead.

Have a look at this for help. May answer some of your questions.

I think ghost sites and sleeper caches are the only ones you need to look out for. Sleeper caches have environmental hazards like corrosive clouds that can melt your ship, but you can avoid em and get the loot still if your are careful. you COULD try and hack ghost sites with a frigate (I've done it before) but if you screw up the can will explode and kill you as you are aware. The safer option would be to use something tankier like a Stratios to hack the cans.
