Jump Drive Burst

I guess we all would like to see more big capital and super-capital fights. Right now, one sees only very few of these fights. Supercapital ships are just so expensive that nobody wants to lose them. So they are basically only used when one side can be certain that they have an overwhelming power. The main problem is that if you have engaged in a fight with supers and Titans, and your side is losing, you can say goodbye to them. Another B-R is not likely to happen. This is also not really a nice situation for the pilots, because they want to use their shiny toys. However, if there is a better chance to extract your ships, when your side is losing, we would probably see more real fights.

Hence, I propose a new module: The Jump Drive BurstIdea

This module would generate a giant EMP burst that can overpower any nearby warp disruption fields, so that the ship can use it's jump drive and jump to a cyno. But a simple exit button would be obviously way to overpowered. One possibility would be that it works only in a fraction of all cases. Maybe 50%, maybe 30%? Or maybe you need quite some capacitor to activate it (so you sacrifice some FAX to cap transfer to your TItan). And maybe your jump range will be also limited for your exit jump.

And the module should have more drawbacks, Using this module will instantly burn out all modules on your ship. And the modules are so fried, that it will take a certain time (2-4 weeks?) before you can repair or remove them. And even then one would need huge amounts of nanite paste to repair the ship (maybe nanite paste worth 2-10% of the hull) So while you would safe your ship, you still have to pay a price by not beeing able to use it (except as a JF) for some time. Of course, because it's a module you would have to drop some other module and lose some tank, damage, etc.

I think that supercarrier and Titan pilots could and would use their ships more often, if there is a reasonable chance that they can extract them if things go bad. I also believe that this would actually lead to more super/Titan kills, because they are used more often. And hunting these ghost ships with all mods burned out after they jumped out would be also fun. Given all the drawbacks (weaker in combat, helpless afterwards, unusable for some time) I don't think that this module would be overpowered,

This is a terrible idea on so many levels.

Since the force projection changes back in 2014, capitals have been dying at the highest rate in the game's history.

where have you been? we have been seeing more capitals not fewer now that we can use them w/o groups like PL showing up before you even finish the first triage cycle

I believe I once saw Lugh Crow-Slave say in another thread that if a new idea needs to have so many drawbacks, its obviously way too OP

Aww, don't be so negative. I always saw that a sign of good will for the game. The way that unicorn-rainbow-carriers inject way too much isk into the game is terrible bad on all levels.

What PL did was, that they kindly removed a few carebear's ratting carriers from the game, so a tech 1 frigate wouldn't cost 200 billion one day.

Eve Minions is recruiting.

This is the law of ship progression!

I am sure that the new titan effects and DDs will spice things up, don't you worry.

Not to mention Rorquals will drop mineral prices a bit and the EC's will reduce production times.

Will EC's drop the price to build supers/titans as well?
