So the Chimera redesign was mentioned during the EVE Vegas - The Art and Visual Effects presentation (https://youtu.be/xFKLd46S6D8?t=18m36s)

I thought this thing was dead and buried by now (I believe this thing was first shown of back in 2015).

The current Chimera

The redesign from 2015

While I understand that the Caldari aesthetic has changed and this is being done to move the Chimera to that new aesthetic, I still don't believe this is what the Chimera should look like.

The current Chimera is one of my favourite looking ships in the game at the moment and I think it would be a terrible waste to replace it with what is currently being shown and I belive I'm alone in this judging from posts and comments back when this was first announced.
But maybe we are just the loud minority?

I like new Chimera. To be honest the old looks dated and like it was put together by bricklayer. Ship itself lacks balance in detailing to heavy elements, and doesnt look "high-techy" enough. Also It doesnt look good with new lighting and textures are ugly. And is not angular enough.

I think the new one is fine. old one is fine too but if the new one means the chimera also gets a up scaling then i am pro new one.
More important is a thanatos redesign because it is Fugly. I also feel the Nyx could do with being bulked up a bit and having the back wing bits bent/swept slightly down. Then there is the titans. Who for some reason all got designed by some one who really liked ships with tiny engines at the back and bulky fronts. The Erebus and Leviathan could use extensive redesigning.

Just to be clear I'm not against a new Chimera design, the current one is starting to show its age.
I'm not even entirely against all elements of the current one being showed of, there is just something about the fore section that makes it feel like a downgrade from the current design.

And yes, scaling up capitals is something that is desperately needed since the FAUXes came about

Fore? For me its like ginormous locomotive from hell, if the hell would be frozen. I like everything about its fore.

Also the Hel is stunning. It must not be touched. Besides having the front two upper armor plates retract backwards to line up with the lower front armor plates in warp.

If that new design ends up in game as is, I'll go buy one IRL:

I like the new one *shrugs* But then I fly the Archon, so my taste is probably abysmal.

I'm here to fly spaceships not play with trains, and I don't know what parts of hell it's supposed to be from, it looks more like a normal industrial train ^^
I don't know, the current one have attitude, like it means business, it has a personality. The redesign though, it don't have much of anything going on, it just stops...

I finally put my finger on why I don't like the redesign, it feels more like a dreadnought than a carrier.
The old one have a wide, flat upper deck that is reminiscent of an aircraft carrier. It generally feels more like a carrier than the redesign.

It's not a bad design, it would make a great Phoenix with a few tweaks, but with the current shape it just doesn't look and feel like a carrier

Really? It feels like it has the same aesthetics as the previous Chim. Long, sleek design. I like the newer one, but i would still prefer a thanatos re-work instead.

But the first association is like you see enough powerful for a capital, its something big and strong. And its from Kaalakiota frozen peaks. Kind of hell for unprepared.

For me it has personality of a rubbled brick wall. Sorry. (^ - ^)
As for it being more dreadnoughy than carriery, I think Phoenix needs redesign also. Maybe comparing those two new against themselves would bring new perspective.

Also, look at those details, if only half otf it would be visible on the design finally, it would be 1000 times better than what we have now. It really adds to the feel of grandeur.
