T1 Cruisers at present. Amarr space.

So, any fleets worth joining for PvP silliness?

I'd say try checking out Spectre Fleet. They do all kinds of public fleets and are new player friendly.

There's also a fleet finder tool in-game, in the fleet window, but it's likely mostly empty because people don't advertise fleets as public through it.

Spectre Fleet is an organization that provides public fleets; not sure what their ship requirements are.

Keep in mind that while "random PVP silliness" is a thing that people are aware exists and are OK with, it doesn't exempt you from consequences. There's no universal "forgive and forget" clause. The targets that you attack in your random PVP will likely set you KOS and remember that you attacked them. It depends on the victims, some care some don't.

Also check the bio for GreyGal ingame and find there the details to join the Redemption mailing list. They run new-bro friendly fleets about once a month and public fleets most weeks, sometimes more frequently. New-bro fleets generally come with free ships if you need them, plus they often have prizes handed out as well.

When you get on their mailing list you'll find links to their public channel (I would list it but my memory is pretty bad) and also at the end of each mail is usually a list of the other better known public fleets and channels. Redemption fleets are notified through their mailing list and you also get links to fittings and ship types appropriate to each fleet. Details of TeamSpeak or the comms used are all there as well.

There is a lot of information there that would be useful to you IMO.
