Normally I would support this but that killboard is an eye sore, anyone that would be willing to hire you would be insane.

You need to be more like VMG, how do people put it "risk-averse" Roll

OH GOD MY EYES! IT BURRRRRNS! AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

*thump*

Seriously, how many times are we going to see these people wanting to become mercs with no credibility? No one in game will take you seriously with a killboard looking like that. People want results and if they are shelling out big isk, they want to know that the job will get done. Both of the killboards above do not inspire fear...at least not to me.

Sadly, as I have said before, my killboard is better...

Strongly advise to put your own decs in and get that kill board green. Get a name for yourself or join a
Valid merc corp if they will have you to get some practice in.

Props to sticking yourself up in c&p though

The best corps always start from scratch. If you put your mind into it, it will be successful ;)

Good luck out there!

He already rolled his corp, joined state protectorate and then left again. I wonder if this is part of a plan.

There's a lot of corner p1ss1ng goes on in here so I'd ignore that (though if you look to the core of the negativity it can be viewed as advice of a sort), start by setting up a corp and sticking in assists on small scale wars, one's where you can turn a fight with very few pilots.

If you keep assisting people they will get to the stage they will be looking for your assist when they get a dec and may start to contact you if they don't see an assist, build this up to getting a little isk for your time and increase the numbers in your corp...don't start by asking for isk...get a rep and sell that.

Try and keep your assists geographically centered to increase target saturation to a region or at least a smaller area permitting you better odds of finding a war target...rinse and repeat.

It will take time but if you put the time in it will come.

Best of luck.

If quitting at the first sign of negativity was your response to criticism on the forums you were never going to get anywhere to begin with.

I can't imagine what would have happened if someone had called you names in local while they shot at you.

You'll get used to it after a while, and enjoy it too. A little like wearing cheap pants when you have thrush.

It would help if you have a specialty.

Good at structure bashing? Offer deals for POS/POCO removals.

Good at lurking in trade hubs? Get ready to get rolled by Tora and everybody else.

Good at scanning down stuff? Hunt mission bears and try to get them to shoot at you.

It's best to pick a niche if you can.

Everything in EVE is a trap.

And if it isn't, it's your job to make it a trap...:)

You want to know what immorality in EVE Online looks like? Look no further than Ripard "Jester" Teg.

Chribba is the Chuck Norris of EVE.

I agree with Mike. If you are going to merc in highsec, you have to stand out. Realize you have a lot of competition out there and that some of the merc companies/alliances actually know what they are doing.

You need to make a name for yourself, find a niche and ride that like a drunk prom date if you want to get anywhere in this game. Also realize that when you advertise, everyone in C+P will go check killboards. That is just how it is.

And you also need to have a very thick skin when doing merc work. People will talk trash about you, but all you have to do is finish contracts and impress your clients.
