Question about current state of ships, particularly Gallente.

Beyond updating skills, I stopped playing about 6 months ago. At that time I was a Tengu pilot doing level 4 missions. I have recently been training towards a Dominix as I miss drones.

With the latest expansion I noticed there were supposed to be some buffs to Hybrids. My question is, does this make any of the other Battleships in the Cadari and Gallente fleet capable enough of handling lvl 4's and possibly 5's with relative ease?

I know the Dominix is a pretty capable ship itself. I flew one on a very old account. More curious about ships other than the Domi.

Thanks in advance!

Pretty much all of the race's battleships are more than capable of running level 4s. Battleships in general are pretty bad for level 5s because their huge size means they have to rely on active tanking, meaning they die pretty hard to neuts.

The dominix is a great mission runner ship, and the rail (and hybrid buffs) means its spits out even more damage.

The Vindicator is of course one of the scariest DPS subcaps in the game, so depending on your wallet you might consider that as an option as well.

I'm looking for something relatively cheap. This is one of the reasons I am looking for a ship away from the Tengu. I'm very particular where I fly it because of the cost of it and it's components.

How's the Mega?

I've heard a blasterthron is now viable in L4s, I might try it next time I'm in hi-sec for some L4s.

Mega with rails is not as bad people make it out to be. I flew one for a while.

I used to run a railgun mega setup for level 4's before incarna which worked fine. It's not the optimal setup but it can definitely do l4's relatively easily like any battleship.....

Now with the reduced cap usage you can fit more than just cap rechargers in the mids so they work a little better than before... here's my old l4 fit slightly tweaked now for crucible.

capstable, match hardeners for missions, faction one are pretty cheap and are for cpu since it's pretty tight fit otherwise... you could drop guns to meta 4's in which case there's more space and antimatter works fine in missions.

pales in comparison to the performance of other races and faction BSes, but it will work. With the changes to null ammo a t2 blaster mega might work pretty well since the range increase pushes it out just enough

Hmmm, I may just stick with the Dominix then.

Thanks for the info. I "Liked" your comments.

The Dominix is a lot better than the mega for level 4s, especially if you have good drone skills.
Garde IIs with 2 omnidirectional tracking links can hit close range battleships with ease, and Wardens will hit out to 90K easy.

The domi is indeed nice

However some missions are a pain, since it can't move far from its sentries. For those you'd want a mega or hype. The megathron is of course very good at fighting up close due to the tracking bonus, and has a nice slot layout.

Most people would say to disregard the hyperion, but contrary to popular belief it does have a few things going for it....particularly the ability to fit a paper tank and 5-6 damage/range mods, and actually survive due to the tank bonus and its relatively high top speed.
