When I started playing EVE if you put a live cargo into a standard container when you came to open it what you got out was fertiliser. This was stated as being the result of the living organisms not being able to breathe.

I have a *lot* of living organisms I have no use for, militants etc. but a desperate need for fertiliser. When I tried popping said militants into a container nothing happened, to my great disappointment.

Does anyone know of a way to recycle unwanted cargo into fertiliser?

Cold-hearted I know but this is business!Big smile

A lot of the old trade goods are now player made PI. Fertilizer is now a combination of protein and bacteria harvested on Oceanic or Temperate planets.

Yes I know that fertiliser can be made with PI.

Why it costs so much is unclear to me. I just wondered what the point of such items as Militants now were seeing as there is no market and you can't even reprocess them.

You can thank Citadels - structure components use a lot of PI. Fertilizer is used for Wetware Mainframes and Nano Factories that I know of
