Multiple Pilot License Training Certificate

Hello,

I purchased a Multiple Pilot License Training Certificate from the New Eden store to train my alternate character. I activated this que 32 days ago on this current character (Rorik Banesmith). The item seemed to indicated that there were two sets of 30 days, and my intention was to activate the remaining 30 days to complete a 60 day training plan for this character. However, checking my inventory it seems that the items has expired and is no longer in my inventory and not accessible.

Is the item able to be activated on a single alt for 60 days of training? Or was it supposed to be activated for two alternate characters for 30 days each... Have I wasted 50% of my purchase?

The multiple pilot training certificate will enable 30 days of training on another character. If you purchased two of these, then you should have been able to have 60 days of training on a secondary character, or 30 days on both a secondary and tertiary character.

Hopefully that helps. My knowledge about these was outdated so I had to edit this post. If you purchased two of these and you only got 30 days of available training out of it for a single character, you can file a petition with CCP.

No, I only purchased one initially. I think I misunderstood and thought that it had two charges. I have purchased a second to complete the training plan.

Okay cool.

I should mention in case you're not already aware that if you have designs on a long-term training plan for a second character, it could be more cost-effective (and more useful) to just have a second account than to spend ISK on multiple training certificates. But that depends on how long you're training for, and what that character will be used for.

Yes, I had considered simply using a second account, and keeping it as an alpha clone. The scope for the training of this character is limited, but, requires the use of Tech II ships. So that would rule out the alpha option. The advantage of an Alternate character is that I get access to the full tech on both characters.

If it really is necessary. I can divert training time from my main.

Also bear in mind that you can achieve the same result using a PLEX - simply right click and activate, select the second queue. PLEX and multiple character training certificates are interchangeable. PLEX tends to be a bit less expensive.

I need to jump in here with a related question... I'm almost ready to buy my first plex and was hoping to use it to skill up both my alt characters (same account) because they both only need about 15 days to do what I need them to do. Now currently I can stop my main character skill queue and just start up on whichever alt I want as long as there is only one active skill queue. Now if I use the plex is it the same in that I can start and stop whichever character's skill queue as long as there is only two running at any given time or is that second character plex locked onto one character? I should think it'd be any combination of two but I just wanted to confirm so there isn't any surprises. Thanks!

That is correct.

You are paying for a number of active skill queues on the account, which can be used by any characters on the account.

Though, I'd assume that if you are using PLEX to train two characters on one account, would I be correct in understanding that you can't "multi-box" with those characters? If I've understood this correctly then having separate accounts is necessary to have both characters active at the same time.

Yes. If you want both characters active at the same time, then you need separate accounts.
