Number of clones for different purposes.

Hi

Is it a good idea to have a (1) training clone with a set of +5 implants, (2) PvP clone with no implants and (3) a general clone with cheap implants.

Jump between these clones when needed.

Thanks.

That's one option that they are commonly used for.

You can swap clones as often as you want in a Citadel so it is not unusual for PVP players to have a learning clone with decent implants and an empty clone for fleets.

You can also use jump clones to move back and forth between highsec and nullsec. In this case there is a 24 hour cooldown between jumps - which can be reduced using the Infomorph Synchronizing skill.

Congratulations, you just figured out, what everybody is doing. Blink

It's even much easier now without the cool down between clone switches in Citadels.

I'm my own NPC alt.

Thanks for the replies.

I don't understand how it works, as I made a clone but when I checked Character Sheet - Jump Clones, it said no implants installed.

Thanks.

Ok, when you install a jump clone, it's a clean, deadhead clone.

When you jump to that clone, you leave behind your current clone and all its implants. In a citadel, you can jump to the clone in the citadel with you and basically just swap the two around.

This way you can have numerous implant sets available to use as required. Slaves for flying a Guardian, Crystals for active shield, Halos for funsies with frigates, Genolutions for those super-tight fits, Virtues for probing etc. I'm only limited by how many jump clones I can create and how many citadels I have access to (and how much I can afford/am willing to spend on implant sets).

When you "install a clone" it doesn't copy your current body and implants, it just creates an empty body for you at that station.

Later, you can "jump" your mind to that body, leaving your current body (with the implants) behind. Once you jump to the new body, you can buy implants for it, and you'll also need to buy ships for that particular location (create a base of operation around the new body; none of your items get teleported when you teleport your mind).

Then a day later you can "jump" your mind back to your original body (and the original implants). And repeat after that.

Great answers this really helped me out as well, question I'm still trying to understand is, if you're currently at a station with no clone bay and you jump to your clone do you lose your implants, if so do you have to be at a station with a clone bay when you jump?

only to install,
you only lose a clone if you are jumping from a station with an preexisting clone installed.

I recommend leaving a clone at:

* NPC school station, so you can always buy skill books.
* A trade hub (Jita) so you can always buy the skill books not sold at NPC schools, plus anything else that you need and then have it shipped out to your "home".

Also handy:
* Leave a clone at a level 4 locator agent station.

I clone-jump between "home" and my usual NPC mission station, so I don't have to make the long trip.

which is precisely why you would like them.
a hg set with the imperial noble implant (2b+) and you can make a Legion do a 1500 dps tank cold.
