In-Game Events and Gatherings

There were a few past ingame events listed in the neocom...how come CCP has stopped this? They should have a permanent Neocom icon for community events. They should have community events every week or two like in Elite Dangerous where you get rewards for killing a certain faction, or for delivering goods to a certain station. Pilots who contribute get rewards based on what level of participation they achieved (such as top 10% of contributors get really nice rewards).
