just wanna say its prty gay when you go through a whole crimson harvest site and some vet kills the bc or bs because you cant do enough dmg in time. If these events are aimed at getting players (of which im gessin noobs are a fair part of) into the game, u may want to look at those mechanics. I did get a few skins very luckily, but the vast major of the time I was out pewed and it was pretty pointless for me to play.

So scoop the loot really fast and bolt, man (or be ready for a fight).

They're really not aimed at that, but if they were, it's hard to imagine a more valuable educational experience for the new player, TBH. Someone swooping in at the last second and swiping the spoils of your labor is practically the distilled essence of Eve.

Go to a less populous area, obviously. The sites are more frequent, and the competitors minimal.

They are farmers, something like this brings the worst out in the greedy chimps, but it could be a boon for PVP players who gank the stealing chimpanzees as they stick their primate swingers in the box, if only we could get people to post kills like that, or on video.

Don't take it so seriously, as long as you always remember that many people are really one generation removed from dragging knuckles so if you expect a chimp to chimp-out you'll always know what you'll get as they sling their poo.

Your right though, too bad the gate doesn't lock when you go into the next room, only reopen after player warp off.

I feel your pain, there are a few guys running around in Tengu's and Vexors that keep stealing the loot after i go though the site. As its been said, the best thing you can do is find a faily unoccupied system.

Also i noted its only players in Vexors and Tengus are loot stealing. most of the other players i encouter usually leave as soon as they notice someone else is at the site, i do the same in return.

It is a good lesson to learn, since people do the same thing in ded sites all over. It is annoying yes, but a part of the game.

As others have said, look for a quiet system - there are lots of them. I found a system with 3 sites before downtime this morning and 3 more spawned while I was running them. 6 sites in a little over an hour and I didn't see a soul.

If your ship has a utility high slot, fit a tractor beam. Gives you a better chance of locking the can and reeling it in before a hijacker can steal it.

Make sure you train the Biology skill before using the Cerebral Accelerators. It's a cheap, rank 1 skill that increases the duration of the booster by 20%/level. Level 3 (about a 2 hour train) the boost will last 38 hours instead of 24 hours.

So move out of the way to a place with less people. There are entire regions devoid of people out there. If you stay around the major population centers obviously someone is going to shaft you.

It's always fun to observe the mental gymnastics people will perform to convince themselves that they are somehow evolved - enlightened, even - while the players who consistently out-compete them (in all their higher-being glory) are an inferior subspecies.

The ability to maintain that level of self-delusion is impressive.

I was wondering why my main had like 48 hrs while my alt only got like 38. That is good to know.

Out in null I ran 16 sites on my main (11 of which were in the same system!!) and at no point did I even see another player.

Hisec has its downsides... but it does give me an interesting possibility of baiting the ninja looters. Hmm. Lock them up before the ship dies, get the killing blow on the ship with a well-timed alpha, then when they go suspect, scram and... liberate their pod from its shippy prison.

Man, they really did these events right, I haven't seen so much whining about having to compete in a long time. Working as intended! Twisted

When CCP wants to have a giveaway, they actually give stuff away.

When they intend for players to compete over things, they add them as ingame rewards.

Showing up at a site does not guarantee your loot. If you know you can't out-DPS someone, then fit a ship to just steal the loot in stead, or go somewhere else. Most people don't fit points on PVE grind ships.

People are competing with other people for "prizes" in a competitive game....

Some player don't want to compete, they just want to be spoon fed PVE without anyone else interfering.

I was about to steal that can myself yesterday... Then a suspect Drake landed and I told myself screw it, and killed the thief instead of the, likely, poor panicked PVEer staring at the flashy yellow.

Good times were had.

Indeed, and for them there are thousands of games that are not Eve.
