Citadels are actually quite strong. Your defense fleet, even with the support of the citadel, was utterly stomped.

Your position is that, even though the other guys completely kicked your asses, they should have to spend hours... and hours... and hours... and hours... on painfully tedious, more-boring-than-watching-grass-grow structure grinding because you don't think it's fair that you lost? Roll

You had greater numbers and the fire support from the citadel, which is really not insubstantial.

I have to assume the problem was a mix of, "We tanked for lasers because that's all provi ever brings" and, "Oh, cool, they've fit for knife fighting."

you have the story, i started playing again after doing something else for a long time and i hear about our stations being made over into these citadel things, and thats my first experience with defence of a fortizar and it died as fast as a current pos just coming out of RF to a mainly subcap fleet even with the damage cap.
are you KIDDING me? a Fortizar costs as much as a station and appears to be the direct replacment for the current outpost lvl slot.
and it only has the equivilant HP of a current pos tower. how can you not see whats wrong with this?
and Mr LOL about outposts being not destroyable in the first place. if CCP was not going to keep their promise why did they ever make it in the first place??? we would not now be having this discussion, why would the game devs ever reneg on a promise of that scale is beyond me.

There's... nothing wrong with it. It's a result of the well-established fact that people ******* hate hours-long structure grinds.

Consequently, the defense model for Citadels is that, against any attacking force capable of destroying the citadel, you either defend it, or you lose it, because inherent-safety-through-boredom is garbage gameplay.

You didn't defend it, so you lost it.
