OMFG! What Happened to Aura's Voice?

I just logged into the Test Server to check on my new Sotiyo XL Engineering Complex.

I about fell out of my chair when I heard a new voice welcoming me.

What have you done with Aura?

After 13 years, 5 months, and 10 days I've grown pretty attached to her Cry

Let the autopilot warp you to a station (approach also). The last occasions where you can continue to listen to the Aura we know.

I've really gotta agree - the replacement samples are really lacking compared to the originals - https://soundcloud.com/ccpgames/sets/aura - and they really lost the feel of EVE the old ones gave. I actually turned up the sound level for aura because I liked the sound so much, but the new ones might as well be off for me.

This sounds pretty complaining, I know, but it's really a sad & unnecessary change - at least have the new VA samples run through some filters or slow down to reflect the feel of the originals; I'll miss aura's mocking tone & detached emotion

Maybe, I have no way to know - to be honest, I like a lot of the new voices - the only ones I take issue with are some of the replacements for the old ones. Some are way too snippy or cheerful, and imo they're all to clear in comparison.

they wanted it to match the "NPE" so rather than make a new character to walk newbros through it they changed auras voice to this half assed mess....

Warping to/approaching station sounds a bit off. My guess is that those two were added later - at a time the autopilot added the warp to/dock atstation functionality). And those also did'nt get the new voice ... yet.

they have been doing that for years we only barrly kept dailies out and im sure that wont last

It's not professional work, but here's a few attempts to make some of the new samples sound more like the old aura, while still holding the quality and feel that comes with the new ones. All I did was slightly pitch them down, and run them through a couple of simple filters:

New voice defenitily most horrible change I'v seen for years in EvE. It's spit into the soul of the pilot!

To be honest, I like the new voice a lot on its own - I'm just not sure it's perfect for replacing the old one yet - and beyond that, I'm sure it's a work in progress.

That actually sounds pretty good.

I'm not entirely against the new voice, it will just take some getting used to. Though I have to say that the additional filters like in that example do make it sound a bit more EVE like.

I suspect they dont see this change as an Issue because most older players say "Eve has sound?!" And all the new Alpha's wont care.

I hear Aura say *a module has ran out of charges" ALOT and this new version is gonna get old very quickly.

I may be joining the "Eve has sound?!" crowd after the next patch Cry
