Unique models for Faction/Officer guns/launchers

To start with, if someone has made a thread on this before, I apologize. I tried the Search function and didn't find a similar thread, so I'm hoping I'm not bringing up something that's been talked about over and over.

I was reading through the EVE Universe art book again, and I was looking over the section with all the still-unused weapon models that the Art Team has concepted over the years. What it made me wonder is if they've looked into the idea of unique patterns/models for weapons depending on if they are for the standard factions or made by the pirate factions.

What would be especially intriguing would be completely unique models for each Officer weapon that makes them seem like a custom-made and very dangerous piece of technology.

I don't have a problem with this per se, but Lugh is right in that it's almost a waste of resources... at the very least a low priority.

On the other hand, if these items had different visual effects, then maybe they would be seen ... and even a source of intel?

Might bump it up in priority a bit, could be used on items other than weapons, and still be snazzy.

Same here. We can only hope they are doing something similar to guns and reps as they did with the prop mods, then we got rid of useless stuff and you can "gun-mine" your replacement fit.

I think the gecko drone should get it's unique model first. It just deserves it! (Even if drones are even more invisible than the guns.)

Because ANY effort put into anything that isn't gameplay related is wasted time.

I posted this thread here in expectation that I wouldn't get a GD-style response, but I guess the entire Forums might as well just be GD.

I assume you're one of those people that gets mad when they show update ship models and effects each year because they're not all programming the game even though that's not their specialization?

Look, I made this thread because the Art team has previously stated that they like making assets in the game visually unique, and using their obviously excellent weapon design skills to produce some different .bmp files for Faction guns and a few new models for Pirate and Officer guns would go a long way toward making them look as unique as their stats make them. I really don't see the need to keep doing this "stop suggesting anything but game balance" crap on every thread.

If you read the description of the Gecko, you see that the Guristas took a Dragonfly fighter drone and have it smaller. So it looks like a Dragonfly.

Guristas ships also look like Caldari ships. Estamel just had enough of that corporate stuff and made her own empire.

Art team who deals with model team who then deals with other sections. CCP to its credit does good work making sure stuff released works well. In the case of this...that means limited/no clipping and client/server performance, Will your now spinning special weapon clip on the model (yes, people look for that). Will it spinning around stress systems.

CCP has given glimpses into the development parts in the past, and how when art or model team go crazy....internal test server dies. Models and art we see now are optimized over time to prevent or reduce this.

What we see released is tested to not kill the server. Your new stuff would need this process. When as mentioned we have other more used items that need some love this becomes less of a need to do. So there you go...long winded version of waste of dev time. One sentence now 3 small paragraphs. My specialty...writing long replies lol.


Also factor in while you may want this, others may not.

Lets have me go with an all CN launcher fit. TBFH...I don't want it showing and my ship saying "HI....I am a loot piƱata. If I spent money on launchers, you know I have other shiny stuff" just from a quick look over.

ccp does not give undo graphics changes options. Model/art changed....we all get it. gankers want to know what is fit on a CNR, they can use their more active and in game now means to see if CNR is CN Cruise fit.

How about we work on being able to fit T2 ammo into faction guns before we worry about remodeling them?
