Margin scammers in Citadels now a thing?

I noticed when I went to sell some ore the other day there were buy orders for what seemed a price just below Jita since it wasn't too under valued and saves you jumping around especially into that gank infested hub of Jita, sold it only to find out it went up on the market rather then a straight buy, so basically you pay for broker's fees and such then remove the items if you wanted to sell on the spot.

Coming back from a long absence so still learning, but assuming this is the same old market scam story?

Not sure what you mean, did you sell the stuff or did the sell attempt fail and you where "stuck" with the ore one jump out of Jita? Broker fee is zero in Perimeter currently.

Looked up market buy orders, seen that they were buying the ore, had the required amount, sell went on their market board instead of immediate sale as you normally expect when selling to orders say like in Jita.

You didnt select 'immeditate' when you went to sell the items and listed them as sell orders instead for x amount of days.

This. The interface remembers your last setting. Hence if you want to sell something immediate after you have set up a sell order, you have to reset the interface back to "immediate".

Er.. not really an answer to OP. Regardless of duration of the sell order, if there is a standing buy order that meets (or exceeds) the price the item gets sold to the buy order immediately.

OP you either
- misread the buy price
- mistyped your price
- were beaten by some other seller (eating up the buy quantity)
- were in a wrong station
- or were margin trading scammed designed to milk out broker fees (not a good move from the citadel owners in my opinion)

I'm not sure if this is the same as i have seen once.

Was selling skill injectors and was sitting in one of Perimiter citadels. It happened that buy order was set in another citadel with range of "1 system". So in theory i would just drop stuff to this order. Needless to say that this order was market with green color. However market UI set my selling price to lower value. I've tried to change the price to proper value and was told that i need to set up selling order to get this price.

Moved the items to citadel where given order was set up and freely dropped my items to it.

Still i don't understand what happened there.... It's maybe i just messed it up. What?

If you are in a citadel, then you can only sell to buy orders in that citadel. Otherwise it would be really easy for the owner to sell to your buy order and then lock you out.

It should've worked fine if you had tried to sell in an NPC station in range.

CCP comfirmed that "system" orders do not cover other citadels. The UI should cover that though. Maybe shoot a mssg to Team Pony Express.

Would you care to explain how this works?

BTW, there is an actual margin scam scheme being possible only with citadels ... in theory, but didn't test it yet, because it involves some risks for the markets I'm selling to.
