Average price as an attribute on items

Dear CCP,
can we get the average market price as an attribute on all items? This will allow us to sort by price in the compare tool. It would also be nice to have the average price right below the name, next to the icon in the information window. That way we don't have to open the market window to get a general idea about the value. Ideally this would be a global average price, but regional average would also be okay - maybe both?

Kind regards,

Consider the following Sell offers:

300 for 100,000 isk
200 for 250,000 isk
100 for 1,000,000 isk

Average price is 300,000 isk. Yet it's only going for 100,000 isk.

There's no reasonable way to compute the current value of an item, because there are always going to be people with outrageous offers.

Another common buy order you'll see:
99,999 for 1 isk

Tell me that doesn't skew the numbers.

Two problems with this.

The first is that stuff in the compare tool is properties on the item, which are database entries, not dynamically populated data like regional price which is gotten from the server running the regional market.

Second, determining what to show as that price.

They could reasonably use the same prices used for "Estimated Value" on the cargo, but they'd still need to wire that data into the Compare Tool. Also some items like Officer Mods don't have good values for those prices, either because they have little to no volume or because their market price is wildly divergent from the item's actual value. It might be more reasonable to create a way to do this in the Inventory window than to try and wire data from the market into the Compare Tool.

Generally speaking though I do agree that some equivalent to the old tools like Eve Refinery would at least be nice, as would being able to see estimated prices for items in other circumstances where the physical item isn't necessarily on hand.

Also FYI Old Pervert, if you double-post then report your own post and mention it as a double-post that you want deleted in the report ticket.

I think it would be nice if "estimated value" was just changed to "regional average" or "station price" and then people were allowed to select whatever region or station they want from a right click menu if you click on it.

Because estimated value is useless, and that market data is already avalaible to everyone that wants it through the API anyway.
