Ppl need to buy them via aurum first and then sell them on the market for isk if they choose to. They were just released so I'd expect a day or 2 before any are available for isk.

So players from all over the world donate to a charity that only benefits Icelandic women? Isnt that a bit ... selfish? I mean Iceland is tiny, my city alone has almost 10 times more inhabitants.

'Troll or just plain st... ?!'

Ok, I'll bite Roll

First, even if the organization is based in Iceland, it does not necessitate that the beneficiaries are Icelandic. The Icelandic Red Cross did go abroad... they didn't have a nice party buffet Roll

And I am sure, that if Icelandic researchers in Iceland, with Ice... and so forth ... would find a cure for cancer, will keep it for themselves, cause, you know, national borders and such Shocked

Second: Even if the beneficiaries are only in Iceland, there are other organizations for other places and so forth, and I am sure all will be equally internationally viable. I am quite certain they won't deny acceptance of a donation, just because it comes from another country!

Third: You choose to buy/donate or whatever, it is by choice, nobody is forced, you can still donate somewhere else and buy skins off the market via ISK ... and deny donation - LOL

Anyway, Troll Blink

PS: And yeah, read the article

The article doesnt mention research at all.

Quote:
The Pink Ribbon campaign is the annual women´s cancer awareness and fundraising campaign of the Icelandic Cancer Society. The focus of the campaign this year is breast cancer education and prevention. All funds raised will go to modernising and improving the breast cancer screening equipment and software.

So basically we support the treatment of Icelandic patients. Thats not a bad thing at all, but since breast cancer is a global problem, i would prefer to support global research. That could potentially benefit ~4 billion women, instead of only ~150.000.

But like you said, i can donate somewhere else.

So, how about a Charitable Group actually doing something, like buying and distributing food to the homeless, or educating the developing world's dispossessed and vulnerable to be safer from diseases that will likely kill at least one of their children, and providing nets and test kits to further help them?

A functional society has no charity, everyone looks out for everyone.
A dysfunctional society outsources such operations.
Everything else i could say has been said in this thread.

I thought the lack of pink skins was an intentional omission, kind of like the lack of bikinis.

FYI, if you're thinking "Pink Ribbon" automatically means "Susan G. Komen" that's not the case. Per Komen's own website they do not have a presence in Iceland.

As near as I can tell the Icelandic organization CCP is partnered with has no affiliation with Komen.

Pink ribbon for breast cancer research/awareness is used internationally and doesn't belong to any single group. It originated in Australia, but is a common symbol globally now.

Yes, sort of.

In the US the "pink ribbon" is associated with trademarks owned by the Susan G. Komen foundation and they have a long history of suing groups that they feel might be infringing their trademarks, especially "For the Cure" and in one notable case using the color pink, in the US. They've also been under fire for a while now over how they actually spend their money and how much (or how little) actually goes to breast cancer research, treatment, and related activities.

I desperately want a Rorqual skin, but I'm going to need conclusive proof and assurances that not one red cent is going to Susan B. Komen organization (a cancer on charity itself) for "licensing" the pink ribbon or any other rentseeking on their behalf. If so, I'm totally down for one.

Its a game, CCP is doing something good for their choice of charity, men, women, homeless, refugees, etc, no need to get upset in any way, I support their selling of skins how they see fit, they are not selling "golden ammo" that everybody was in an uproar over long, long, ago.
