Call me ancient person but i have no ideas what twitter is and what is it needed for. We already have lots of 'social networks' including imgur and clones, linkedin, facebook and its clones, various network music stations, etc....

I've got two Twitter accounts now and I used to think of it as a glorified RSS reader. I almost never tweet with my main/RL one, but I can see what's trending where I live IRL and if I wanna have something to say about it I can say something in 140 characters or less and include a pic, gif, poll- whatever and my audience could potentially be enormous.

My alternate Twitter account is my Eve Online character's and I interact on there almost everyday. Twitter is lots more fun as Lulu; it's where I dump my favorite screenshots and tell little stories of what I'm doing in game. #tweetfleet has a fairly large following too. Again, this account can be like a glorified RSS reader but for strictly Eve Online stuff. I don't even remember how I got the idea to make Lulu her own account, I was a really new player then maybe a month into the game.

Only thing I don't like about Twitter is probably the same thing as it's main purpose lol and that's it's tendency to get political all the time. Twitter sucks right after any major event too. Ofc that bleeds over into #tweetfleet, or just the people I follow don't have it like I do with seperate Twitters for their real life and their alter egos.

You have like, three basic groups of EVE people on Twitter. There are the devs and player group leaders, their fambois, and then there's a very small subset of people who take their character roleplay wayyyy too seriously and have named their twitter after their character name.
