Lucas isn't far off the mark, gambling regulators are talking about regarding any currency used for gambling as having a real world value; regardless of whether it actually does or not.

Unfortunately laws trump EULAs when there's an opportunity for government to regulate and thus tax something.

Think of it like this: No money goes to these gambling sites anymore; the full amount can be sent to these institutions you may value.
Not just a minimal part of the whole and the rest disappearing in the pockets of the site owners.
Now all you need to do is a burlesque striptease to get people to donate money to your cause.
