Thunderdome Server Usage

A support ticket was submitted but not answered in relation to the question of how a group may ask to use the Thunderdome server for a public event.

Any help from CCP is welcome, I just want to make sure the message gets through in time to make the call on time and location of this event.

Euhhhhhhh.... there is no "thunderdome server."

Unless you are talking about the test server or the Chinese server, everything is on Tranquility.

How did you Veterans start?

There is, I have been on it, and it has been announced publicly as something that would soon be available for certain public events.

If you understood what Thunderdome is or was for, you wouldn't need to ask these questions, but here is the info from AT 14 for thunderdome usage.

TQ and Sisi do not lend themselves to many public events styles, especially tournaments. Events get crashed, run into issues of playability, etc. This is why CCP uses GM only tools for the Alliance Tournament, for example, and is the whole theory behind the Thunderdome server.

It has 0 people because so far has only been allowed usage by players as an Alliance Tournament practice ground, and AT is over for most teams. Thunderdome will soon be used for special events on a request basis through CCP.

Just read the thread.

No where in it was there any mention of the server being for "public use". It instead looks like it will be a "special event" server (much the same way the other servers are used sans TQ, SISI, and the Chinese one).


If you want to set up your own tournament, go out and do it.
No, you are not a special enough snowflake to have an instanced environment and GM controls.

That is the thread for AT use, the only thing I could share with you from the forums, but a real life CCP Dev said those words "We will make this available for certain community and special events" about a month after that thread was released

I am asking as intended, so I am not claiming any special privilege here. If you order something on the menu, you aren't being an entitled snowflake, you are being a person.......who wants to buy food........

Thunderdome is for the at teams to practice on, it's not a public server.

There's always Singularity if you don't want to do it on TQ, the market there is practically made for it.

You'd need to check with CCP on the PvP rules there, IIRC it's in one system only for mass tests, but if people are engaging in MORTAL KOMBAT mutual combat it may be allowed.

Wait until after the Alliance Tournament.

At the moment, Thunderdome is only accessible to AT teams.

However, CCP have mentioned plans to open it up for events, so expect a follow up announcement some time after the AT is complete.
