Hey everyone,

We have some important information regarding Singularity and the state of your account on Singularity over the next few days so please take a couple minutes to read the following post.

With the November release now available on Singularity we have faced some tough decisions on how best to test Alpha/Omega clone states on Singularity

After much internal discussion we have decided on the following schedule for accounts on Singularity:

  • Wednesday 12th until Friday 14th October 2016 - All accounts are Alpha
  • Friday 14th End of Business October 2016 - All accounts are default omega. Slash commands for players to be able to switch between Alpha and Omega
  • Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th October 2016 - Player accounts are Omega with the slash commands available to change state
  • Monday 17th End of Business October 2016 - All accounts Omega and keep slash commands enabled

After end of business Monday, we will leave all accounts in the Omega state and Players wanting to continue experimentation thereafter will be able to do so through the use of exclusive test server slash commands.

The slash commands when available will allow you to switch between Alpha and Omega states.
The commands are as follows:
/alpha - Enables Clone State Alpha (It is recommended that you restart the client after using this command for optimal testing of Alpha state)
/omega - Enables Clone State Omega

The state of your account will reset after each server restart, Singularity has a daily downtime of 5am EVE time and it can be brought down as CCP require so please check your clone state when logging in to make sure you are in the correct state you want to be in.

To ensure the health and viability of the test environment, which is not designed to deal with excessively large numbers of players, we have decided to put accounts that were disabled at the time of our latest mirror into a banned state on Singularity while testing is ongoing. This will have no long term repercussions on your accounts and will only be a temporary measure.

If you find any issues you can submit a bug report through the client, instructions on how to do this can be found here
https://community.eveonline.com/support/test-servers/bug-reporting/

We look forward to your feedback on the Alpha and Omega clone states.

UPDATE: The slash command is now active!

Looks good. Can we get new characters to start in the alpha state so character creation is as if a alpha is doing it and the new player experience is enabled correctly.

Is this for the full client or just for the character you do the slash command in?

If its currently in alpha state the omega symbol in the character sheet will make this unclear.

If i dont know something about EVE. I check https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/ISK_The_Guide

I noticed that an alpha clone isn't able to train non-alpha skills, is this going to be like that even after Ascension release? I think that training skills at half speed, along with many other limitations of alpha clones is a strong enough reason to keep my accounts in omega state - no reason to disable skill training entirely.

Workarounds are not bugfixes.

Wat?!

Do you mean on the test server or in general, because obviously alphas can't train non-alpha skills - that's the whole point.

Excellent idea. I would like to get a handle on what an alpha can do and when he can do it based on various training queues.

Really nifty idea!

How do we go about testing the new NPE? It'd be ideal if we could put in a "slash command" to kick off the new tutorial.

What a great idea.... Not.
Had an OP planned on Sisi with our new brows for today, they spend the last two weeks skilling the required ships.
Now they are all alphas and can't do shi*t.

Also my skillqueue stopped, because I got no skills in that queue that I can train on an alpha account (at least I can say that the "Can train now" option doesn't show any skills, so at least I know I got all Alpha skills maxed :-/

What, CCP is actually using a test server to test a new feature, resulting in you having to actually play on Tranquility the way the devs intended?

How preposterous!!

Clone State is on an account level, so once the command is available, setting your account to Alpha and making a new character should put them as a new alpha would be. however new NPE is not what my team are working on so I can't comment on this area.

More details on the hows and wheres of testing various features will be coming as the feature threads go up in this forum.

Since you can't switch between clone states, it's only 50% of the feature.
About "play": I prefer to throw some fits against the wall and see what sticks on Sisi before doing it on TQ.
Way easier and more fun.

Nah, just being grumpy. Big smile Guess I will have to get us blown up in frigs now.

Wonder if you could do an "Alpha" combat zone once we can switch clone states again. Testing frigates is so much more fun when you know there will be no idiot with a capital in the combat area.

For those of us whose accounts are all full, will biomassing and creating a new character in that slot work?

Bio then switching to Alpha then creating a new character is how I plan to do it, already bio massed two charactersSmile

A few observations:

I just noticed Gas Cloud Harvesting but no Ice Mining? I think you might have explained why no Ice Mining way back when but any explanation seems to pale to insignificance if you are now allowing Gas Cloud Harvesting (a 25 million isk skill).

For testing at least, the artificial 24 hour restriction on the skill queue is too restrictive. Can you lift that? There also doesn't seem to be any reason for it on the regular server, either.

Is there a way to export the skill queue to a spreadsheet or csv or whatever? That will make it much easier to share with others. If not can anyone recommend a 3rd party piece of software?

The alert that says other skill books are required when you go to purchase a skill is a little confusing. What it really means is that pre-requisite skills need to be injected. I double-bought skills a couple of times because I didn't inject the pre-req skill before moving on to the next skill book to buy. No big deal on the test server of course, but might be a bit irritating to a new player with limited funds.

The difference between the little white dots and the little yellow dots is somewhat difficult to see for my admittedly aging eyes.

For alpha clones it would be nice if there was a filter that only showed the skills you are allowed to train. I realize you want to show all the skills so that alphas can see what they are missing (oooh, Gallente Titan!!). See also my comment about the dots colors...

The pop-up box, while useful and needed, always seems to be in the way. Perhaps fix its location off to the side and not covering text in the main window?

I think the unifcation of the everything onto one singular window is a good change. My major criticism is the UI of the vertical text, and the hover bubble. From messing around with the new window i'm spending a lot of time with my head on my shoulder trying to read the bloody names. This needs to change, my recommendation would be to just remove the names from the bars entirely and have them only appear on the hover bubble.

excuse my terrible photoshop but something along these lines

test

This way instead of having text fade off with instances such as the corp management, all the relevant text could be included within the hover bubble not causing any neck strain. in addition because of the removal of names from the bars, you could shrink them down and increase the bottom half of this window
