This is my fit for a beginner in lvl4 missions using a Raven, I prefer to have a cap stable fit to begin with if it allow for enough tank and DPS.
This fit should be cap stable with low skills, if not you can drop the painter for a cap recharge if you like.

As your skills increase and you can fit T2 modules so will the DPS you can apply on target, start by replacing T1 modules as your skills increase.

Don't focus to much on the raw DPS output as it's a lot more useful to be able to apply as much of it as possible.
Remove cap modules for other modules if you are comfortable not being cap stable or eve better have a mobile depot with you and refit in mission as needed (more tank, another target painter, a Missile Guidance Computer, AB, MWD, BCS and so on).
Loot table is to hell from missions now anyway so make use of refitting in mission instead of looting. :)

You can check the fits in EFT (EVE Offline Fitting Tool) of Pyfa against your skill set.

PS. Republic Fleet Large Cap Battery is only about 20-25 M ISK so I'd use it on a Raven any day of the week and I like a RR to fix my drones on field, drone agro is no joke any more. Use MTU and salvage drones instead of wasting a high slot on tractor beam or salvager.

This next fit is a cap stable T2 fitted Raven with 621 DPS omni tank against lowest resists (no need to refit for rat type) and 722 DPS output with maxed character. Fit for each mission and free up a few mids for other modules.
Same here, make use of refitting in mission and you can clear a mission a lot faster.

And managed to try that missions again, "Buzz Kill", against Angels, but can't do enough DPS to down a single ship in the first wave of Assault Cruisers. With the Cap boosts I'm able to stay alive no problem but can't get shields past 75%, seems futile. Tried both Light and Medium (I think I've said Heavy, previously, my bad) drones, and while light helped, it wasn't enough.

It's fairly disappointing to realise it took a lot of L3 missions to pay for the ship to run L4s, only to find it couldn't do **** and I need to wait another 5+ days to get a 5% buff to try again. Then another 5 days to get a 3% buff if that doesn't work.

Am I really stuck behind a 10+ day wait wall before being able to do these missions or am I just doing it wrong?

Cheers.

Kzaji,

Yes, that fit looks good. That fit is something that will work very well as you train up your skills.

If you choose to go cap stable, you will find that it will take much longer to kill anything. Go ahead and try a cap stable fit. If you can't afford to waste the rigs. I'll cover your cost of the rigs. Then you'll be able to see for yourself, and then report back to us.

Since you may have to depend on drones for those pesky frigates that can scram you, get your drones skills up so you can use 5 drones. Also take a couple of days to get each type of drone specialty skills up too. At this time they do not have to be at 5.

It's a process.

Buzz Kill is the worst mission you can get in a Battleship ever, so many small ships take forever to kill in most cases.
I'd swap hardners to 2x named Adaptive Invulnerability Field and then fit a named Missile Guidance Computer with missile precision script loaded and maybe even drop 2x Ballistic Control System from low for 2x Missile Guidance Enhancers.

Keep those modules with you and a mobile depot and you can refit in mission as needed, if you are left with small stuff fit for killing small stuff.

Also try faction small drones, just keep them alive or it will be a tad expensive in the long run. :)

Oh what a fool... I got the wrong ammo didn't I. I thought inferno = explosive for some reason, makes sense now though. The bloody mission expired before I could retry it too. Not only that, I lost standing so I'm back to L3's to get it up again. So, least when I eventually try this mission again I might be better skilled :)

My skills in missiles are:

CM 3
Bombardment 3
Operation 5
Projection 3
Launch 4
Warheads 3

Bloody annoying how I won't know if using explosive would of solved it though, vs next set of skills.

Got drones 5 in the cue next. Be interesting to see how I get on in other missions now then.

Cheers for the builds, might give them a go once at some point, but my thinking was that I can't directly pump DPS out whilst I can pump cap out, so building for dps and pumping cap seemed the obvious choice, assuming I don't afk.

Cheers.

Some dead space guristas resistance (shield mods), they are not expensive and give you great resistance EHP, faction cruise missiles, and defently DPS rigs.

A micro jump drive will get you out of most NPC's effective DPS range, use auto targeting cruise missiles when locking isn't possible, if you use rocket fuel rigs you can push your range on cruise missiles to over 200 Km and just let the missiles fly, this keeps the DPS to near nothing unless your dealing with guristas because they can also hit out pretty far, about 190 Km for their BS.
