I do not believe in harem. It's damned difficult, in fact, outright impossible, to give everyone in the harem maximum affection. The best I can do is give them equal affection but being the human that I am, I am most likely going to have 'favourites' and 'least favoured'.

No, better stick with one and shower her with maximum affection.
