Does anyone have experience with playing EVE Online on any of the latest MBA or MBPr models? Basically laptops with the HD6000 or Iris Pro 6100 integrated gpu.

I still own an Air from Mid2011 (i5, 4GB Ram, 128SSD and HD3000). It is still working fine but it has gotten some flaws over the past five and a half years: Battery sucks, some CPU hickups here and there and the old Magsafe charging port sometimes does not charge. That's why I'm looking for a replacement in the next months.

Please note this is just my office computer for on the go and thus would be nice if it could handle EVE decently. My desktop at home has enough GPU horsepower that its fans don't even turn on hehe

EVE does in fact run on my Mac machine. Lowest possible settings, it gets VERY load and the CPU reaches 81 degrees C...

Now here are my two questions:
1. How does EVE run on the newer machines mentioned above? I don't care about the graphical fidelty. Instead the noise and temps are more important to me.
2. What is all the talk about Wine and Cider? I just downloaded the Mac client on eveonline.com.....what am I running lol?

There shouldn't be any reason why the newer hardware would run the game any worse than your MBA. My 2011 macbook pro ramps its fans up when I play, but you're pushing a mobile machine to do something fairly intensive... you're going to get some heat.

If you just downloaded the EVE client you're using Wine.
