Note: takes place 4 or so years after the events of my first story.

Scattered throughout the desolate wasteland were remnants of the ships that had fallen here, out of low orbit, during the first attack on this colony. Large pillars of twisted metal, and craters left by the impacts of ships before, had left this desert barren and scarred, serving as a constant reminder of the violence that had once claimed home to this land and taken the lives of so many.

A some-what soft breeze blew sand across the desert, leaving small dust marks on my suit. I could see clearly through my visor, despite the sand. I was serving as a escort for two local geographers, wanting to get a more accurate map of the current land. I stood and watched as they sent drone, after drone into the sky, in search of god knows what... I looked rather menacing to the geographers in my assault suit, large and looming, armed with a railgun. This would server to my advantage though, perhaps warding of any would be raiders, thinking they could make a quick buck from whatever we had on us.

The only things i really had to worry about out here were raiders, and the local wildlife. The primary threat to travellers out here were Rattlers. Scorpion-like creatures as big as two men, with claws easily the size of half a blaster turret. One of the geographers had been stupid enough to wander too close to a Rattler nest, wanting to get a closer look. He got a look alright, but he also lost a leg, the only reason he wasnt eaten alive being me scaring the buggers off by unloading a few round from my railgun into the air...

Any ideas/tips and feedback are welcome, thanks for reading!
