Redesign the Mining process - Using GunJack!

Currently Mining in EVE is not very fun and encourages Botting/AFK/Watching Netflix behaviour.

It is difficult to make fun the process of scanning, activating a mining laser, rescanning and picking a new rock once they get depleted. This is why I say embrace it, give an option to fully automate the mining process, as in go to asteroid belt, select ore/ice type and activate lasers, mine until ore hold is full/ore is depleted

With the process fully automated you are then free to concentrate on something else, Gunjack!

The idea is whilst mining you are being attacked by rogue drones that hinder your mining efficiency, by loading up gunjack you can get in your barge, destroy the drones and increase your efficiency.

The outcome would be you would still be able to AFK mine as you currently are, but at a lower efficiency
If you were to actively play the game you would get more reward

There are obviously technical hurdles to overcome integrating the two games, and if CCP would be willing for players to rent Gunjack whilst they subscribe to EVE, but I think it'd be worth it.

Sounds like an awful amount of work for CCP to do for...mining

And how do I play gunjack if I do not own -- and do not want to own -- an Android or iOS device?

UI Improvement Collective

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

Give up your life as a mountain man?

It is currently available on steam and soon to be PS4 (if you're into that kind of thing)

I trust you'll be distributing free VR headsets too, along with this idea?

The notion of introducing mini-games or puzzles to 'enhance' mining is nothing new, and has been shot down like a Hulk many times

Server operates in 1 second ticks, gunjack can't work.

you wouldn't need to link the on screen action, your performance in Gunjack would produce a mining efficiency score that would then be communicated to the Eve server

Except this would allow other people to have an clear advanage over people who do not wish to play games on their phones.

Also relying on a business model CCP can't control is well, bad for business.

What happens if it went down or broke because of an update? No more minerals, mass histeria, CODE going nuts in the belts as peoples ships burn out when theyre told they cant mine and they throw their PC's out the window, emergency calls to and from CCP Headquarters, Iceland seals its borders to stop angry mobs, endless forum posts of "is gunjack down?!?!?!?!", endless ISD work closing all those posts, Fedo excretions all over the floor.

Not a pretty picture

Holy cow this is one of the worst ideas I have heard in a long time.

Topic summary:
Affect income in eve based on performance in a non-ccp game

As a miner: No freaking thanks. There are many ways within eve that could change mining to something more active, so that NO ONE would be satisfied (Those of us who want something a little more relaxing mine, those who want more active, pve, trying to make mining more like other pve content is just going to make the miners not want to do it, and leave the pve'rs still uninterested). Mining is fine, leave it alone.

After reading the CSM minutes yesterday there is a little blip that says they are working on making mining more interactive, there were some good ideas there and you should take a few minutes to page through it ( Pun Intended ). I'm not even a miner and i like the ideas they brought up

On this, I'm with you, mining in every game no matter how "interesting" devs have made it always is the same, it's mining, not combat or Dora the Explorer, to try to make it "interesting" would only make people avoid it because it's too much trouble in comparison to others better paying activities.

ED has constantly bugging NPC's, see how that is working out for them, I left and came back to EVE.
