About 3-4 years ago eve online had a link on its main page to ships and weapons and other modules, where you could find information on any of that. I'm finding this link impossible to find on the new web page. Where is it? I remember it was like a bunch of drop down menus and info was in small boxes on the left with the object you'd selected on the right.

That's how I first saw minmatar frigs and wanted to start playing eve in the first place. The front page of eve online website is currently so bland and useless compared to what I remember.

Don't kid yourselves. Even the dirtiest pirates from the birth of EVE have been carebears. They use alts to bring them goods at cheap prices and safely, rather than live with consequences of their in game actions on their main, from concord to prices

So I had to go to way back machine

Found database but its likely very heavily out of date now. Having to rely on third party sources or dig through the game rather than using a portal on eveoline website which should theoretically be the place to go to find this info seems really poor. What is the 15$ going twards?

Either Item Database and Evelopedia were removed. Don't ask me why. So yo options are to use Wayback Machine (link to Evelopedia is below), to use third-party wiki or to search through Market in EvE itself and items Info.

Got it. So shoddy for AAA.

Im forever puzzled by the decision to remove Evelopedia as well. In before everyone reminds us how great Uniwiki and whatever-wiki are.

I would have quit about a month in without the resources and lore bits Evelopedia had.

This is pure speculation on my part... but I think it came down to 3 things.

- It was showing its age as almost everything on the site was out of date.
- CCP does not have the resources to pour over every last entry and update.
- History has shown that players cannot be trusted on "open-wikis." If I remember correctly, Evelopedia was open for editing by any player... but then this feature was disabled after players started waging info wars against one another... and altering descriptions to suit their personal biases (ex. "The cloaking module is used only by scumbags! Don't use it or our alliance will shoot you on sight!")

I think it's like how people do courier contracts for less than metal scraps a jump.

I miss Evelopedia too. Since it closed I use a combination of the E-Uni wiki and http://games.chruker.dk/eve_online/default.php

Since chruker's site also is quite a bit dated (last change was for Mosaic mid-2015), created my own version of an item database at http://playground.schildwall.info/basics/types/
You can choose to search and show items on Tranquility as well as Sisi and Chaos.

Updates happen when there's a patch for one of the servers.
