Buying Eve content on cdkey sites?

Is this allowed or would i get banned? Ive seen some good deals on g2play but im not sure if they are legal sites

First off, if it wasn't legit it would be against forum rules to post about Real Money Trading (RMT) and get you into hot water so I'd be careful about asking this kind of thing in the official forums. This is one time that I would actually advise the Reddit forums above the official ones.

Second, you are best to ALWAYS use officially sanctioned sites and not grey/black market ones. CCP has good deals they usually run and you can always buy off of Amazon.com. I recommend a subscription upgrade to a trial account or something along those lines.

There's a list of sites that are legitimately allowed do this, I'll see if I can dig it out for you.

here is a statement from CCP Falcon on the topic. So yeah, you would be putting yourself at risk by buying anywhere that is not on that list.

IMO get yer stuff directly from CCP.

thanks for the info...i know these sites can be a bit of a grey area when it comes to the legitimacy of key codes...thats why i checked.

I do get a lot of game keys from there and havent had an issue....yet :P

I would file a ticket, link the site you're thinking of and ask CCP if it's legit. Better to get permission ahead of time than be hit with a ban.

It may be a grey area as far as the law is concerned but as far as ethics is concerned it's just plain wrong, to the point that devs have started asking players to pirate games instead of buy from shady websites. I realize this doesn't directly apply to Eve as it is sub based but just in case you didn't know, those sites are just bad, mmkay.

Well, approved sites do get a cut, so the main reason to buy time from 3rd party sites is to support the site, like battleclinic was worth buying time from, because battleclinic was a good thirdparty site. If you don't have any particular affiliation with the site or need to support them, just buy from CCP directly.

Eve Radio from the current list is the only one that seems worth supporting.

Is the Humble store ok to buy from? They arent on the list but ive not seen anything to suggest their keys are dodgy

That is the deal I made and I am quite happy with it:


1. Trial Account with Buddy invite (21 days, 0€)
2. Starter pack (+20 days und 30 days faster learning, 5 €)
3. 6 month special offer for new accounts from CCP
(+180 days, 50 € per PayPal)
4. Plex from the Buddy Invite (+30 Tdays, 0 € - Thanks Elizabeth Norn -)

= 250 days Eve for 55 €, sounds fair to me and all my money got to CCP :)

Just buy PLEX and sell for ISK. You can get anything on market (or at least on WTB/WTS posts) with ISK. It gives money to CCP and PLEX goes into in-game economy. It's beneficial to both players and CCP

daft question but I assume all Amazon sites count as legit...such as the UK one? The list above only mentions the US version
