So tell us now what are your best rage quit stories. Yourself or others.

My favorite was still an old FW I members. He had saved up for a BS when they first came out. Sold everything to buy one with like L1 skills, he could barely sit in the thing. 20 mins later its a cloud of pixelated vapor and hes screaming in corp chat. We didnt see him for a few months and then when he came back he left after a few days again over another rage quit. Seems he took it into low sec and got it vaporized in the first system in.

This was 2003 and is always my favorite and first true rage quite story. The guy took it SO hard and personally.

Tell us yours.Big smile

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

I never rage quit before, although I took some breaks while training a long skill.

However, there are few times I have rage returned. The moment you hear or see something and say "This needs to be dealt with".

"You said this bookmark was safe!"

"No, I said it was A safe. Were you cloaked?"

"No, I didn't have a cloak because you said we had a safe place"

"If you're not cloaked, they can still scan you down and shoot you while you're AFK"

"So if I cloak its safe?"

"Not any more. They probably bookmarked it when they blew you up"

"**** this game. Later."

I think I recall something about someone spending a lot of RL money to buy some fancy purple ship only to get blown up minutes later and then threatening to sue CCP bc he lost everything. Was a pretty amusing story.

I cannot really remember rage quits because of others.... But there is some thing which actually makes me rage quit. This is game mechanics Shocked

First time i can recall it was when i was in FW solo hunting enemies in high-sec. I found that you could fit industrial with 5-6 stabs, have warp speed of frigate and enough tank to get out of any solo attacker using NPC protection ShockedSad It's really nothing you could do in such cases solo! it was real WTF moment for me..... Seeing industrials afking from station to station and being unable to do anything to them without alts of gang.... Lead me to 1 year vacation.....

Other cases are when i lose my ship because of some strange game mechanics. Like after introduction of POCOs they were spammed at any planets at 0km. And warped to one of planets in Caldari space my ship just got stuck there and was blown by FW NPC. Not big loss but how can you evade such cases?

Or recent when i lost my Helios to gas cloud in sleeper cache being stuck into object and destroyed by gas cloud. Ship was ordered to "approach" and not "go dig into it until you find it's center".

Losing to players just means they were better than you at this moment. But losing to badly implemented mechanics just has bad taste..... What?

That reminds me of my corp's early day mining op with our first Orca!

Our precious new Orca got stuck on a massive Veldspar (massive for HS anyway) and no matter what the Orca pilot tried he could not get out.

We had quick discussions and embarked on a 'Free Orca!' Op, bevause that Orca was actually named 'Free Willy'

There were a few of us mining, not max skilled at the time. And we focus fired #gasp!# our mining lasers at that Veldspar.

Eventually we mined it out and the roid popped, Free Willy was freed. \o/

CCP, please let us overheat our mining lasers!

I was once dual boxing a vexor and blackbird. A tengu attacked me on a gate and I ravaged it with the aid of sentry guns, he stabbed off (had a scram on him) in 10% hull, then his two buddies in 2 proteus showed up and I absolutely violated them, and both of them stabbed off in hull, first one, then the other. Turns out they were French.

I quit eve for a year that day.

I know of such guy, maybe even the same one you are talking about. He lost a CNR worth ~40 billion ISK, after that purchased another one just to get baited by Goons who took it from him to keep it "safe".

The guy posted all over the Internet, I think he was a lawyer or something, he was going to sue CCP for taking his money. Big smile

I made a few breaks from EVE, but because of boredom, nothing else. Back in the days when I felt the rage few times I usually tried to take the fight back to the aggressors instead of leaving. Most of the time it ended up in having a good fights.

The last time I lived in HS I was in a corp that formed from the first one I ever joined. We got awoxed and war dec'd. After the war started, our CEO sent everyone after these guys and we all died having very little to no PvP experience. It was a 24hr **** show and he killed all his toons off and handed me the keys to the place because he was angry it happened and depressed about the awoxing. Been 3 years since that happened.

Oooooh. Easy for me. It was when I posted my REDDIT post and said I'm out of here. I canceled my account (which has a few weeks left paid for WITH REAL MONEY yet to do) and uninstalled the game. I took every EVE-related link out of my browser. Dumped EFT, EVEMon EVEHQ, all the folders, files and ...

NO you cannot have my stuff. It will remain as a huge lump CCP has to process over and over and over and over - I'd say roughly 40 billion in assets.... 2.5 billion in cash.

Along with the blatant disloyalty of CCP's staff, and the questionable loyalty of some supposed VIP celebrities here, is the abomination, and T!TS UP devolution to Free To Play MT Store. The internet's last bastion fell.

Jägermeister management techniques. Mittani butt kissing. I've had enough.

Last but not least, allowing tawdry, pedestrian commoners on the internet to plaster a red WANTED on our avatars through some massively broken, always INOP bounty system certain EGOS are too INFLATED TO DUMP - BumbleFark you know who you are -

didn't help. I know CCP. I only spent a few thousand on your game. You aren't seeing another cent.

(You know you'll miss me. Aw. C'mon. Admit it!)

And of course the forum eating this post once "We were ganked" (so very cute) on these "better servers" r i i i i i i ght

So long, and thanks for no fish at all.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

A corpie quit because the CEO realized that said corpie was involved in RMT and informed him that he was going to file a report with supporting evidence to CCP.

Accused corpie had a really good rant, stating that the idea was to get ahead by fair means or foul, as this was, cold, mean nasty, dog eat dog Eve etc and anyway it was his money.

He quit, never to be seen again.

This is not a signature.

The CEO of a fw corp I was in, got so pissed that our alliance leader had written our corp name wrong in an email that he dropped the alliance and fw in a fit of rage without discussing it with anyone. When most people dropped out of the corp to rejoin the alliance, he rage-quit EVE... After a good break he came to declare hellwar on us Big smile, but dropped it when it did not really work in his favour....... good times

Oh xst you had to get me started on this again, just skip this if you don't want to read a wall of angst.

I am a baby to Eve I started just two years ago and I was told by my FC's I had a very healthy relationship to PvP, I never complained about losing ships or making sacrifice moves for the fleet, and I understood from playing many PvP games that the other player is there to have fun to, so I never ragequit over being shot at. I did find it frustrating that the skill gap was so awful, they sort of fixed that with the skill injectors though but pro PvP players will never find Eve attractive. It should be made VERY clear to new players that purchasing a pilot is the best way to get started in Eve. Waiting a year to be good and at least 2 years to be great is stupid af.

And wow what a community, everyone was so eager to help me out from the GM's to the FW players who took the time to train me it was really impressive. As a community and as a chess-like RTS in space from a first person point of view Eve is awesome. The story is what drew me in to stick with it though in the first place and I soon found there was a major disparity between the original founder's vision and CCP's hateful attitude towards any kind of story that didn't culminate in shooting ****.

The 5 minute long "event" assassinating the Empress because they were embarassed about her due to listening too much to player opinions and needed a quick excuse to get rid of a character nearly everyone in the wider Amarr (FW/Highsec) community loved. I really hate bad storytelling in games and the events leading up to the assassination were very contrived and forced and done in a stupid way. Writing our characters realistically and engagingly would require playing into the bad storytelling in ways that would never be rewarded by CCP, for example we would have to assume that the Navy was in on the assassination by the behavior of the officials, (not declaring war and basically throwing the Empress out into the Drifter forces when it was a clear danger) Nothing was explained or laid out in a professional way. The event killed the Amarr roleplaying community, which in itself was the last place left alive for any roleplayers in the game. It's never recovered in my opinion, and the fallout left the Intergalactic Summit chat and forums a veritable ghosttown, it also killed Amarr faction warfare, because even non-roleplayers loved fighting for Jamyl, she was so crazy and slutty in that Eve novel, she appealed to the broader player base (as game designers one can't really gear something towards the RP minority I've seen that fail before in several games unless it is centering on very professional roleplayers of which there is only ONE person in Amarr RP who is serious enough about storytelling and character integrity/character and player separation that I know well enough to say that about). Catiz is really boring by comparison, although it fits with the PC narrative CCP is trying to build. They can't understand that storytelling and human rights really don't go well together. (Theyre very obviously trying to eliminate the slavery and torture **** for PC reasons)

I told everyone that Catiz would win well before the tournament would happen because that is who CCP would logically pick to fix the "slavery" "embarassment". They needed a female so they wouldn't have to fix the character creation screen "Amarr is ruled by a powerful EMPRESS" and they needed a liberal Holder who had a reason to get rid of slavery.

Stories need to be provocative and horrifying to incite players to action, and CCP does not understand black humor the way Blizzard does for example.

All of this has historical roots in Iceland itself and the complexes leftover from WW2. Nobody thinks more about their history than those who live in the nation and at this point Iceland just needs to get over itself in my opinion and CCP needs to own evil a little better.

I see the same mistakes being made by roleplayers constantly, Eve roleplayers are a fantastic community constantly being abused by CCP, and because of this they have driven away all roleplayers who are purist roleplayers, so we're left with people who make such mistakes as identifying with their characters and players who think all roleplayers think they are their characters. Unlike some elitists I accept these people. Eve is mostly guys, most of whom will be hetero so having a cute "princess" to fight for is definately okay, businesses need to do what they need to do to survive.

I am a Satanic witch who believes in laissez-faire capitalism irl playing a religious nut who thinks killing people for God is righteous and fifedoms are the future. Yet people in Eve accuse me of actually believing what my character espouses, accusing me of being a religious nut irl when I don't give a **** about God or prayer or any of the stuff my character would go on and on and on about. I think CCP makes the same mistakes their players make about people - they think players always want to play the hero, well, we don't, I play the godamned hero irl.

CCP has fostered this sick enviroment by saying "Eve is real etc" well the META is real, the gameplay style is real, talking on comms completely OOC is real but the story is not and never will be that's part of the fun. I have a real life that I love I don't need Eve for that. What I need is a fantasy I can never fulfill in this world, which is shiny spaceships and epic terrible dark stories about terrible people and the great courageous people who stand against them.

If I played Eve as myself I would be a Gallente or Serpentis pilot, not Amarrian and quite frankly being a progressive advocate for Western Enlightenment is just more fun in the real world than it is in Eve. I play Eve now because I love collecting shiny things so atm if Eve is real I am definately a hoarder. :P

this guy who apparently had a collection of catalysts on osmon tried to kill my mining alt

my mining alt was in the endurance with afterburner on, bit of shield tank. and i was semi-afk mining some ice

well, my cat decided it would be a wonderful time to throw up her dinner. so i had to step away to clean up and stop the cat from running around with puke on her paws...(was gone for maybe 10 minutes)

when i returned, i noticed i was at 50% structure, and there were 3 catalyst wrecks(i learned they were catalysts later in zkillboard) floating around

this 1 guy tried to gank me 3 times in 10 minutes.....when i got back i noticed he was raging in local about "ganking is dead, CCP making game to easy for noobs"
after watching him rage for 3 minutes he said the normal... "s**** this game i quit"

idk how he failed to kill my endurance 3 times in a row....guessing its afterburner ran out of range.

but i learned my lesson. next time i leaving combat drones out to get on the kill mail.

I've never rage quit from Eve before. The worst I'll do is walk away disappointed, like having 8 people shooting me and then they bring the Falcon just in case. I lost a Stratios, and a few hours later that same day, I had a former corp/corpmate forget to fuel a tower once and I lost about a billion ISK. Literally back to the stone age with my Algos I lost so much.

I've let the worst of this community (not the community as a whole) get me enough where I've quietly unsubbed and left for 3 months. It wasn't just one thing but a lot of little things and my general feeling toward the game at the time. I won't go into detail. Roll

Anyway- I'm not so much a rage kind of Eve player, but that don't mean I'm not passionate.

You know not only do single players quit but there seems to be a fair amount of stories involving "leadership" and how they get bonkers guess it reflects RL, would love to see these folks in real life...bet they be choice.

I once ragequit for two week 4-5 years ago after being market scammed over a 800m t1 Tractor Beam. It was right after the first (and only) time I ever bought a Plex to actually finance a ship (Machariel).

Damn I was pissed.

'If they take the ship, they'll rape us to death, eat our flesh, and sew our skins onto their clothing. And if we're very, very lucky, they'll do it in that order.'

Yeah, we're like that.
