What's your favourite thing about space? Mine is space. Smile

I've had a lot of fun moments, from jointly running missions with friends of mine to fighting war decs with a bunch of awesome corpmates, and even my first taste of PVP two weeks into the game. But as far as the most recent history is concerned, shooting up a bunch of Sansha in New Caldari in a live event (my first live event in all the years I've been playing Big smile) was a whole lot of fun. Huge props to the live event team for making little bits of immersion like that a reality.

Some things ISK can't buy. For everything else, there's Jita.

I havn't had a single big favorite moment yet, which would stand out from others. But many small moments, most which I've probably forgotten already.

  • While helping newbie in mission, he asked if I am GM Shocked
  • Figuring out how to make billions in market Cool
  • I forgot to put collateral to courier, but it was still delivered Big smile
  • While trying to buy 2 PLEX from player via station trading because he had negative wallet, we couldn't get it to work. So I just gave him the 700 mil ISK and hoped he would then give those PLEX to me. And he did. Big smile

I'd probably have to echo Fanfest as providing my favorite moment, sitting around in the lobby of the Grand Hotel talking with Nyphur from Massively.com, some Suddenly Ninjas guys and a handful of other random EVE players... just listening to them talk about their exploits in the game. As someone who came from White Wolf days, I've heard a lot of "LEMME TELL YOU BOUT MY CHARACTER!" and that can grow really old, but strangely it hasn't with EVE stories, which is pretty cool.

As for my favorite in-game moment, I'd have to say the time I, along with one other guy, broke off from the main FW fleet in order to chase a battleship who had broken from the opposing fleet. I was flying a cheap throwaway Tristan for giggles. We managed to take out his drones and then chain point him to prevent him from warping away, staying inside his range, each of us on opposite sides of the gate. He would jump through, one of us would point him, he would burn back, jump and the other would get him. I guess he was waiting for reinforcements.. for about 15 minutes until our victorious fleet caught up with us and provided the killing blow.

That's my luckiest ship, since that encounter it has survived 6 dips into hull as a crappy tackler during small fleet engagements, but never defeated. I retired it from service, but will never retire it from my heart. [/sappy]

Getting my very first battleship blown up scant minutes from delivering it from production.

"It is only one jump into low sec. How bad can it be?" Bear

EVE still delivers its adrenaline shots, but never like the first time you lose something expensive. Over half a decade later, still remember. Smile

Speaking of embarrassing losses, I remember logging in after a vacation and ferrying a wealth of datacores and mods to Jita. Chatting on the phone and not really paying much attention, when the screen lights up with familiar flashes, my ship goes "boom!" and I go "what??" Turns out we landed 4 active wardecs in my absence and I never bothered to check.

Still ashamed of that one... Oops

Only been playing EVE for about 5 months now......so I have lots and lots of opportunity for memorable moments.

But, so far............

I think it will have to be on day 2, when I was mining in a Bantam in a Wormhole with my newly-joined corporation, Tech IV Industries.

Actually that was my first day in Lowsec, as well as a Wormhole, was very exciting =D

The anomaly was a beautiful shade of blue, will always remember that.

And yes, I know there are like a thousand other purdy blue anomalies

95% of the players are loving EVE, the other 5%? On the forums.

His name is 'Prism X'. The screenshot is of planet 10 in the Prism system, thus the name of the planet is 'Prism X'. The dev who worked with the world shaping to create the Black Rise region is called 'Prism X'. sigh.

Way back when I first joined PIE and I was just about able to fly cruisers I was in an operation where I flew an Omen. Our operation went a little haywhire and we where forced to retreat from a bigger minmatar/Oracle fleet. My Omen was not fitted for maximum agility and lagged behind in warping to a gate. Those time you had to have bookmarks to warp to 0 at a gate and I didn't have it being a noob in PIE.

The enemy fleet entered the system just as I warped to the opposing gate and I arrived seeing most of the PIE fleet almost in range to jump. I tried physically willing my Omen to fly faster towards the gate 15 km's away knowing I probably wouldn't make it.

With the minmatar fleet right behind me no time realign and warp out and no pvp experience I exploded about 3000 meters from the gate. The longest 10 km's I ever flew.

Another story is a battle with ushrakhan a few years later where our fleet disengaged, I had a scorp in very low structure with my Apoc and being pointed I rather wanted to take it down with me in stead of trying to get out. Just as I exploded the scorp was untargetted and I got my pod out with a big smile on my face. When I asked the opposing pilot after the battle how he felt he said he never felt so happy cause he had les then 3% structure left... /sadface and thus a rivalry was born.

Another story:

Chasing down Hilmir from the people's front of minmatar in a stabber with my ship (don't remember which) across a solarsystem when our two fleets met and everything promtly disintegrated in one big furball across the system.

Recent story:

The losing battle of DGTMI where CVA lost more then a hundred capitals in an hour. It was a miserable time being stuck and not knowing if you ship had jumped and watching the black screen. But the 400+ AU jump with hundreds of capitals and several titans looked epic when we entered space.

Tdlr: Amarr Victor, whether we won or lost, always Amarr Victor

I'm not sure but in a way I think Poreuomai's memorial in Pator . Over a hundred player from all around the world had gathered to remember another player, who most of them never had met. It was strong.

Jump into 0.4 to check things out in a harby.

8 red. 2 neutral. Warp to safe avoiding megathron. Troll for 20 minutes. Warp to 2nd safe after being found. Keep trolling.
Send 0.01 ISK and a mail about their poor performance and entertainment. Suggest for them to recruit funnier people. Troll some more. Go afk for 10 minutes. Come back. Troll again.

Feeling satisfied. Warp to gate and jump avoiding camp.

First battleship: Megathron I manufactured. Fitted it with lots of plates and ratted with it in high sec. I could't even use large turrets so I used torpedoes. GG GG.

First battlecruiser: Brutix purchased in nullsec. Fitted with projectile turrets. Later lost in a mission with a combination hull/armor tank.

Next battlecruiser: Hurricane manufactured from a BPC shortly after the ship was added to the game. The price of zydrine at the time was extremely inflated so it actually cost me more to build than to just have bought new. Later lost in a level 3 mission.

First T2 ship: Claw. Died to NOS Domi before the NOS change.

First two months in game: bankrupted repeatedly by getting my mining barges destroyed in low sec.

First PvP: fired rocket from Slasher at a Kestrel. He warped away. I then jumped into high sec with GCC and then Concord :(

Best PvP: low sec square-off between pirate HAC fleet I was in and an FW fleet. Under gate gun fire and outnumbered we knocked out a 5 billion ISK Navy Raven. I got top damage and final blow with my Cerberus.

First trip to nullsec: autopiloted many jumps in while AFK. Then died in a camp on my way out after I realized you can't rat there with a shield/armor active tank Thrasher. Who would have thought?

First encounter with Goons: flew out to Cloud Ring to mine Arkonor. I'd gotten the impression based on ignorance of the market that it'd be worth over a million per unit in High Sec. Also I neglected to notice that you can only hold a couple units of the stuff in a mining frigate cargohold. Really, really CBA to make the flight all the way back to high sec so I asked Goons to kill me and pod me. They finally did after I idled for like ten minutes amongst a fleet they had outside a station.

First emo rage: about a day after I started playing. Don't remember what it was for but it definitely happened.

Scam victim due to: accepted courier contract to nullsec outpost I couldn't dock in. Did this like three times.

Other shenanigans: fired from Drones of Annihilation and Finfleet for never being on teampseak/ventrilo and generally being terrible.
