For you kids that dont know about the old, pre-color, pre-remote control, 13 channel (which were also free btw) crt TVs, the verticle and horizotal were manual adjustments you could make to your TV set. You would get this funny scan line like you do on the billboards now if you didnt. A relic of the past, newer CRT TVs didnt have this feature and is also absent from LED TVs becuase LED TVs dont work on the same principles that CRT TVs do.

So why in this super advanced future do we have verticle scan line distortions in space bound bilboards?

And what's with the permanent quafe ad on them? Did the guy who did billboards get fired?

Cosmic radiation?

Also i like the liney stuff, makes it look like an actual screen rather than a just a space poster

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Sometimes when I post, I look at my sig and wish that I'd follow my own god damned advice.

Aesthetics, artistic license, etc.

Also, it's spelled "vertical."

The space billboards are holograms and they may operate on a scan line principle where the field the light is projected onto must be constantly "refreshed", but due to the shear size size of the billboards, technology in New Eden has not yet developed to the point for perfectly seamless displays at such a scale.

MASIVE space billboards old tech because they are not only old themselves, but there are so many that the cheapest effective technology was used.

that's called the blanking interval, and it's a relic of the CRT and how interlaced video works.

what you see on the billboard is not a rolling blanking interval (not that blanking ever rolled, its an optical illusion) its noise, or more commonly known as ground loop hum, or 60cycle hum, which does create several rolling bands of noise in your image.
video transmitted through space tends to pick up various distortions and general noise, couple that with a bit of art that predates HDTV and we discover that you are a moron and shitposting is the only thing you do well

option 2 is that your chase camera (the one that shows you space) is not genlocked to the billboard, another current common problem.

but you wouldn't know that now would you?

Of course you can be an ******* in C&P. It is literally the ******* Forum. This is General where we have a High Quality that you tend to break in every thread that should be in F&I. I do not see how you honestly don't get that. /then again you do believe Man has never walked on the Moon.

Makes me proud you had to go back a month to find that though.

Proud of my good nature but Saddened by your obsessiveness. RollSad

Dont be sad...it's not all that bad. There is this thing called a "search feature" on the forum...took 2 sec. I've read your comments before and you are not shy with the "moron" word. So it wasnt hard to find. The way you split hairs though is laughable. Distiguishing forums to dictate behaviour? Lame.Roll

Yes but when it fits, it fits. Such as when Morons continually post threads in the wrong forum section not to name names. (Much to polite for that)

I have my own twisted sense of Logic that works for me.

But is it really so twisted compared to someone who believes Man never walked on the Moon.

I must admit your backwards logic always brings a joy when multiple posters crumble it thread to thread.

My favorite Thread was the you're quitting EVE thread, yet another lie unfortunately. Also it was posted in the wrong section of the forums. (Big Surprise.)

Oh Atticus, Atticus (I like saying that.) As you pointed out, this isn't cable. Any idea how FAR that broadcast is traveling? All that ion interference...all those solar flares...space litter... Anyway, nobody's stopping you from getting out and adjusting it. If you DO...can I haz yer stuff?

Cool

Paradise is like where you are right now, only much, much better.

I agree with Finchy - billboards just seem anachronistic. Just get rid of them.
