Duh! That's the idea.

Your complaints about the difficulty to reach industrial goals is exactly what made EVE fun. That's why people joined corps and worked together is because it was hard.

The grind exists when there is no challenge. Reward comes in the form of hard work or risk.

Except there already is a challenge, and a very sizeable one. Most of them are optimization challenges- buy the right spread of mats so you don't run out of any, find a way to haul them without getting ganked, find the right thing to produce, and where, etc. But you'd only be adding a pointless challenge- Do multiple more hours of work for each cycle just getting what you need. There's no point to a challenge like that, it's literally just warping around the galaxy and collecting all the **** you have to get.
