I'm new. I started playing this month. So far I'm really enjoying it. I decided I'm gonna do a bit of real investing and bought some plex. I had 3 sold 2 and decided to hold onto one for now. I'm wondering if any market gurus have any predictions on it's value in the future with the possible surge of new players. I'm honestly financially set for a while as it is so I'm not in a rush to sell it, but I'm curious.

Fair enough. This is why I like this game. It's the more "real" feeling mmo I've ever played.

Depends how many newbros stay

if a lot, price is gonna fall since new chars can't make 1b+ a month and will rather put plex on the market rather than take it away.

if a few, price is gonna fall or stabilize a bit (speculation bubble bursting) and than continue rising

First few weeks, or even month, after alfa clones will be introduced, the price will be stable. Later on army of arm east european alfa get enough ISK to try to convert to omega and price will sky rocket.

It's a bit too early to say now as we have no way of knowing how successful the November changes will be. While most people have been looking at how alphas who are completely new to EVE may affect the plex economy there are also the established or older players who aren't currently subbed that may come back as well.

Then things can get complicated. Older returners may have alts they can strip for skillpoints to sell through injectors, or stockpiles of assets or isk, either of which will affect plex / extractor / injector prices.

In summary : it will depend on how many "new" players come in and what the mix of new vs. returning old players is.

Not so fast, cowboy. Not necessarily so. Were it just some mod, or ship, yeah, I can see it. However, this is the basis of monthly payment on which so many hard core unemployable EVE wannabees plan to stake their digital fortunes. If you grind maxxing your ISK income for thirty days (not actually "playing" EVE all the while) and can only come up with 99.9999999999999999% of the price of PLEX your Zodiac...Zether...whatever - PAID ACCOUNT, suddenly becomes an Alphabet...Elephan...well FREE TO PLAY account and all that effort has to transfer over to the next month...or whatever convoluted time keeping system these wizards use.

That makes it core to game play, not just another shopping item. Be advised, noobs, tons of people like to post stealth threads to create propaganda pushing their in-game agendas pretending here to be disinterested, third parties, just making "objective observations" ... you know ... using fact-based "logic" to ... drive home their points.
