That is going to be a big mistake, didn't you ever check out what happened to Planetside 1?

That is free right? I read an interview by Smedley, I do hate that guy though for the whole SWG fiasco and him denying and trying to trick us all but he said SWTOR would be last subscription based MMO he thinks, best thing that guy has ever said :D

It does look good. But I wont trust hype now even less than before, EA and bioware made me an even more cynical person, which I thought was impossible to be lol

Yep because they did nothing, paid nothing, and made money. Servers are already deader than they were and considering they sharded everything like tards is far more dead than it should be. Is a worse mistake than WAR

Exactly, same with SOE and LA. I wonder when companies are going to realise it is most likely better and cheaper just to make up their own license/lore than to use star wars for any games. They get as much out ofit as 20th century fox did with star wars, or even less...

Why can't CCP just make an EVE Online 2? I don't get it. Is it suppose to slowly die untilno one plays, quit then start working on it? I am pretty sure EQ2 started before EQ1 ended, heck they both run now.

Either it takes too long to obtain; or is not worth it.

We shall see, the game isnt even 3 months old yet. Let it get to its first server consolidation and then pass judgement.

Agree with the OP so much.

Bioware have gone from a great developer to **** all now. They released awesome games like Mass Effect, Baldur's Gate 2 (one of the best RPG games of all time IMO)...

I really like EVE, i think its content is varied enough to keep people playing for years if they want to, and they will always find something new to do. The universe has resulted in a novel (Empyrean Age) that is really good, and there are people now and then demanding an EVE movie/TV show. EVE is my first game i have ever played online in any way, and i have no reason to try another, especially a ****** one like TOR

your first flaw was thinking a good game and bioware belong in the same statement
look at biowares latest games, they are all crap with amazing stories. think about it give KOTOR, mass effect, or dragon age a mediocre story... was it still a great game? no the story (and voice acting) is literally all bioware does right

2nd, you got SWTOR thinking MMO, you should have though kinda multiplayer RPG.

3rd you got MMO at launch, never a good idea IMO.

honestly? get game, beat light and dark side 1 time and forget about it until they release an expansion, pick up expansion and go through it again + new content.

I disagree, and this is the greatest tragedy.
You ALWAYS want to be in on an MMO at the beginning.

Collectors edition aesthetic stuff only becomes worthwhile when it can't be gotten anymore in three or four years. Progress and experience pay off in PvP. It takes time to build up a group of people your compatible with. You can bring your friends or new players up to speed on daunting amounts of content when it's received multiple expansions. I especially like the drama it cuts out when I can pick a class I LIKE and ride the nerfs and buffs without having to deal with crap about how you're over or under powered. You were playing before you were OP, and you've been playing long enough to be useful even when UP.

But the last few years, I've been buying MMO's at launch in the hope of their gimmicks being good game play changes that will make them last. They have all been disappointments, many sell or hand out their collectors bonuses to anyone, and populations drop off suddenly making it impossible to build up a group of people selectively and forcing you to recruit anyone out of opportunity. It's a horrible catch22 of either missing the launch and first year or two waiting to see if it's going to last, or gambling on the tiny chance of real success.

It's known to use the EVE time based skill train system.
A sub is most likely, but unlike EVE you might be able to PLAY even when not subbed, just your queue wouldn't advance. It could also be a cash shop that sells queue time in more and more economic intervals, with a sub system ($15=skill queue stays moving all month.) being the cheapest way to buy bulk time.

I like SWTOR. It's a nice break from Eve...not groundbreaking by any measure but it's fun.

And LOL @ all the uber nerds getting all uppity and condescending, calling other nerds nerds for playing a different style of MMO. It's Star Wars. It could be a game based on Wookiee farts and people will still play it because it's the Star Wars universe.

Nerds are nerds. Making a hierarchy of nerddom makes you an even bigger nerd. It also makes you even more pathetic.

Only for the imperial side currently, as with the latest patch, they are apparently, due to their massive numerical superiority, able to camp - and farm - the republics at their spawn point.... the rage on the forums is unbelievable, over 200 pages and growing.

Yeah I've had tons of fun following that fiasco too. Highlighted pretty well how inexperienced BW is at this. It won't determine TORs future though, no matter what BW decides to do as a reaction. TOR never relied on strong endgame or PvP content, so what happens with it won't ruin the game. It will matter, but the PvP was never something amazing even when it worked perfectly, so any failure will just hasten the inevitable.

The real test will become a month or two from now when the main mass of players reach maximum level and get tired of rerolling more alts. Either BW has shown at that point, that they can deliver a constant stream of high quality story content for the masses to digest or they will start losing the casual story focused players and get in to a cycle of reduced income -> reduced speed/quality in content delivery -> increasing loss in revenue. I'm somewhat interested to see what happens, but it's going to take a few months before things stabilize enough to say for sure.

No, that would be called not being a dickless c*nt and instead allowing people to just enjoy the things they enjoy without being an elitist asshat because you think one massively multiplayer online video game is inferior to another massively multiplayer online video game. It's like the glee club making fun of the science club, and it's f*cking sad.

Yeah I started as a Jedi, and while it was fun at first, it quickly started to become somewhat tedious and, well, tame.

However, the other day I created a sith character and HOLY MOTHER OF GOD IS IT AWESOME. It's like a completely different game.
