Hey people just wondering if anyone out there has a fix for this patch download error that keeps popping up, the patch downloads at a snails pace until about 3-4% then it fails and displays an error message, this has happened almost every new patch and has usually somehow resolved itself after a few days and downloads normally but this is still very frustrating for a pay to play game to be so unreliable hope someone out there can help because I'm getting space withdrawal!!

It's very likely that what you're describing is happening because of your internet provider dropping packets or blocking large downloads somehow. Maybe they think you're trying to download a movie and they have a policy against that.

First thing I would do is use an internet speed test not to see what your speed is, but just to see if it reports errors, and then use traceroute or other internet troubleshooting tools to figure out if there are dropped packets.

Internet issues are, unfortunately, related to your specific internet provider, and there isn't much that CCP or we can do to troubleshoot or resolve the issue. You may have to call your ISP to resolve the issue. It may be as simple as turning off your cable modem or internet router for 5 minutes, or as complicated as paying more to get a better connection, or switching to a different provider.

EDIT: I'm jumping to the conclusion that it's your internet provider because if there was a problem with CCP's patch file, a lot of people would report it in the official thread or in General Discussion.

EDIT2: Use the traceroute utility to see the path that your traffic takes to reach the EVE servers, then correlate with an internet health report or similar to see if it's the internet at large that's having issues. For example if you see AT&T or Sprint servers in your trace, and right now the AT&T and Sprint backbone connections are reporting dropped packets, then at least you know it's a temporary issue somewhere on the internet backbone.

The fact that you can't finish patching every time there is a patch, though, to me that says it's your internet provider that has some policy to block large continuous downloads. Does this happen with any other games you're patching? Or try to download some large file from somewhere, maybe a game demo.

I saw your other thread, and you CAN, if you want, open a support ticket with CCP to have them help you troubleshoot the issues. They may be able to help you with the tracert utility, or give you the specific addresses of the patch server vs. the live game server vs. the forums server, and maybe help you run a more accurate trace / troubleshooting.

It's not something that they're required to support, though, so don't expect an immediate response. But I think they'll try to help if they can.

As a courtesy to other forum users, please search to see if there is a thread already open on the topic you wish to discuss. If so, please place your comments there instead. Multiple threads on the same subject clutter up the forums needlessly, causing good feedback and ideas to be lost. Please keep discussions regarding a topic to a single thread.
