What's next, Rixx Javix is going to continue making awesome EVE art, but demands he is paid 100m ISK before he publishes every work? No. That is not how community spirit works and that is not the kind of community we should be encouraging here.

I know what's next. maybe someone will write a book. Maybe even me. Not sure about the final title, so here is my working title. How does this title grab you...

The Fountain War

Bit rough and its just a working title I will grant, but I like it for now.

How about you? Like or no like? Pretty sure no else has used the title, oh wait....

Right. I think it's obvious we didn't make the deadline. So all donations have been refunded.

It did spark an interesting discussion though. Blink

About a year ago, I posted this Lego Astero on the forums:

In the original thread, the reactions were very positive, and some people were interested in getting a parts list + instructions in order to build it themselves.
Since I'm back after a long break from Eve, I figured I might just make those instructions after all.

But I thought I'd make this something along the lines of a Kickstarter campaign: if we reach the goal (posted below) before the deadline, every participant will get a parts list + instructions to build this nifty-looking Astero.

Why the campaign? I'm just a guy with a regular job and a finite amount of leisure time. If I do actually make the effort to create instructions, I'd appreciate your appreciation in the form of a donation. Cool

If this goes well, who knows, I may create another ship. Feel free to give me some suggestions.

The goal: 1 billion isk (lol I have no idea whether this is a good amount or not, we'll see how this pans out Roll )

Deadline: Friday the 16th of September

Come on fellow capsuleers, be a part of this and, above all, fly safe!

First I'd like to say that's some excellent work, definitely something to be proud of. However it's a shame that you couldn't just share it with the Eve Community instead of trying to sell it, especially given the short time period you placed on it.

In the past there have been lot's of other players, including myself (The Plan), who have shared their knowledge, guides and apps with the Eve community for free. Their goal was not to make ISK but to help the members of this community. I'm sure in the past when player numbers were much higher, you probably could have quickly achieved your goal but right now I'd say you picked a bad time due to low player numbers.

So instead of making the instructions, posting them and THEN asking for a voluntary donation, you have the audacity to ask for this 'donation' ahead of time and if you don't get enough you're not going to go through with it?

GTFO mate, seriously. Either make a contribution to the EVE community or don't. Don't go around demanding money for it, that is all kinds of not cool.

Despite what everyone else has posted in opposition to TigerXtrm, I agree 100% with what he has posted in this thread.

Sorry but you're wrong.

Charity is something admirable, and I respect those who do this (like DMC above o7) for community, but I don't think it's something to be 'expected' or at least get yelled 'GTFO' at if you don't do it.

It's like when an elderly gets on a packed bus wih no seats left (all priority seats already taken by other people in need, and let's say I'm with no seat either and standing myself).

It's admirable when someone gets up and gives up a seat, but I wouldn't yell GTFO to a guy to make him give up his seat. :p

Just to add, although I see what Tiger's getting at with EVE players having tendency to ask for ISK, on the otherhand there are plenty of people who have put up stuff for free for the community.

I see charging for ISK as more of an RP extension of the ISK driven game world thing, in a way it's kinda cool to have this option of making ISK by offering 'service'. But I think we as a community also have plenty of examples of people posting blogs, info., tutorials and such 'for free'
