I'm sure there have been tons of threads regarding this topic but i'm having trouble finding a thread that answers my questions. I'm looking at fitting up a pvp Absolution for small gangs (3-7 members), primarily being WH pvp. I'm having a hard time choosing whether or not to active or passive tank (again, i'm sure this question has been beaten to death). I've even seen a few setups on battleclinic that have a 1600 plate and a MARII but i'm not sure how I feel about this. My gut tells me that a buffer fit is the way to go, but with how high the resists are, active tanking is tempting. I suppose this is one ship were either way works depending on the pvp situation, but I'm wondering what the community's general opinion is. Also, if someone has a nice fit i'd be interested in checking it out. My thoughts for a buffer fit would be either 1) 2 1600 plates with FMP II's or 2) 1 1600 plate with HPL II's.

Thanks for any help!

Well if you have a Logi in the gang go Passive, if you don't, go Active

I used to enjoy flying them with a cap injected dual rep tank. Amount of damage they could take was obscene.

Plate/Rep setups actually work very well on amarr ships, a small active tank that would normally be useless in PvP add's HP to the large buffer over the course of a fight, while using less cap than a dual rep setup, it also means you can rep back up after fights without having to dock(something that is useful in WH space).

Id say go mixed if it fits. Its awsome having a huge buffer and also repping...even if its only a 175 tank. Only go full buffer if you have a gang were you expect to either all live with the logi or all die in a fire.

Thanks for the input. I'm thinking that i'm just gonna leave it setup the way i've currently got it fit : 2 1600, 2 EANM II's, DC II, 2 Heat Sink II, FMP II's, small neut II, web, disruptor, microwarp, and 2 trimarks. There should be enough dps in our gang to not need to step up to HP II's while dropping a plate.
