Can't scan down a data site... in High Sec

This... is weird.

I found a datasite in 0.6 space that I can't scan past 71%, even at .25AU.

Now, I haven't found a data or relic site I couldn't scan down since I started flying my Cheetah. I mean, I've been all through Wormhole space up to C5, and haven't found a site I couldn't scan down. And now there's one in High Sec? And it's not even close... 71%?

This is a Cheetah with 2x Small Grav Capacitor I's, and standard probe cores/launcher. I usually use Sisters probes, but don't have any atm.

Ghost site maybe.

It's been a while since I've run one, so not 100% on that anymore.

Either ghost site or sleeper cache, I think the latter is harder to scan

Some of the highsec sites are very hard to scan, normally the ghost sites, but a few of the others are also.
If you have perfect skills you would normally be fine even with T1, but I use to use at least T2.

The sleeper cache's are particularly hard to scan. Even with max skills, you may find you need a sister's launcher and probes, and implants also help considerably.

I have a max skill + best implants + faction probe launcher + RSS probes setup. There is nothing this setup cannot scan to 100% - absolutely nothing. But some ghost/sleeper cache sites in WH takes effort and scaling down the probe sphere more than normal even for this setup, so I would not be surprised if those were unscannable with lesser skill/gear on some setups.

I have many toons that have max scanning skills, and usually use faction probe launcher and faction probes. But the Virtue clone with all the implants and scanning upgrade mods is just far far superior and difference is huge.

Some sites are so hard that such implants are a must.

I'm sure this is tongue in cheek :p But for those who may get it wrong...,

With max skills & T2 scanning upgrades & faction probes you can pretty much scan almost everything. With max skills & faction probe launcher & combat probes you can scan down most ships down to frigs & pods in an unbonused ship like a Recon ship as well (unless they are ECCM fit or something).

It's just some sites & stuff where all the implants become necessary.

But in general the point of these implants are not about whether you can scan something or not, because usually max skills and moderate gear can scan almost everything.

The implants are more about how quickly you can scan stuff down, and how far the probes can be from your target if you are scanning for a pvp target.

Not true at all. Astro 5 and supports at 4 with at least 1 rangefinding array on an astero with sisters launcher and 1 grav rig can scan any signature in the game, source: personally have scanned every possible sig in the game using such a ship and skills

This. Pretty sure I've even done it with T2 launchers and no grav caps (but max skills).

Yeah good skill is always the key. Having low skills and trying to make up for it with implants is meh. It's like buying high grade slaves without having max armor skills. Most stuff in EVE can be done with good skills. Implants and blings are to reach extra level when you already have good/max skills.

bad advice. no implants needed to scan all the sites. on some sites you need to manualy adjust some of the probes on .25 to get to 100% and that's for me without implants and only 1 module for boosting that. t2 expanded launcher with sister probes with max skiills.

If you need implants to scan sites, then you are doing something wrong. I can scan everything in an astero with faction probes and and launcher, and perfect skills. If i have trouble such as with a superior sleeper i just toss a scan mod on and that takes care of it. You can scan 95% of sites with an astero, faction launcher and probes and moderate skills.

What system is it? I know at one point, some of the sigs where bugged in the cosmos constellation in Sinq Laison (Algintal). It went away and then came back and then went away again, it may be back...
