This mining barge update is &^$^##^%$&^. YOU TOOK AWAY A HIGH SLOT MINING LASER ON MY HULK!!! Of all the stupid crap that changes in this game, why change my Hulk? The Mackinaw is a better ship to mine with now. I'm going to be %^#%#& all day now.

Your tears are delicious, but the Hulk still has superior yield so I don't know what you're b*tching about.

When they aren’t busy fixing server lag, our artists have used some of their spare time to work on the following spaceship redesigns:
You gotta be kidding me, right? So much for a totally inappropriate joke which beckons irony's judgement. So let's look what your artists did in their "spare time" which sounds like "do changes for change's sake only to keep them employed". Time to see how valid this notion is:

EXECUTIONER (Speed Frigate): Did LucasFilm / Disney wanted to sue you for having podracers? I doubt it, because the Crucifier still is untouched. Now the Executioner hulls look even more like the Crucifier hulls, which I greatly disagree with. Having ships look too alike to one another is not exactly good form. My verdict: bad change.

SLASHER (Speed Frigate): Looks now like a Dragonfly with a cut off tail instead. I would have "squished" the existing Slasher in height instead of giving it such a weird redesign. Speaking of podracers, now you have a very flimsy X-wing with a cut off nose. Not really flattering or a smart move. I understand your intention of going away with the duct-tape and rust jokes because let's face it, any space-faring vessel should have at least a semblance of structural integrity, no matter how fragile it looks. Doing away with asymetrical designs is also a design choice I can understand. Then again, eve online is not a game known for it's realistic aesthetics. Verdict: unnecessary.

PROBE (Scanner Frigate):
Hold on a sec, wasn't the old probe symmetrical before? Why did you screw it up so badly? How about publishing your "design cheat sheet" when it comes to the empire ship? Or have you lost that over the years and try to replace it now by reinventing the looks of the empires (most notably Caldari). I have no direct qualms with the new Probe, other than it looking like an alternate and beefed up version of the Reaper. Verdict: unnecessary.

BANTAM (Support Frigate): Really now? I mean I get it, you're trying to get away from the bulky, blocky design from the Caldari and try to make it somewhat techy and slimmer because they don't rely on armor but on shields. Problem with this philosophy: Sleeker design would usually mean a slightly lower signature radius, and Caldari ships are known for being easy to spot not only because of their shield strength but also due to their ship architecture. Your new design choice for Caldari interferes with inherent and long-established character traits of Caldari. The previous version had some bulk to it which made it look like a spaceship. Now it's more akin to a drone. An Elephant-head-mimicking Origami drone. You bet it looks more fragile now. You still haven't made up your mind if you want Caldari ships to look graceful (like the Caracal and moa) or clumsy (like the Blackbird). Verdict: bad.

GRIFFIN (ewar Frigate): You've gotta be kidding me. What monstrosity is this? The previous Griffin had an iconic style to it, like it or not. What is this now? What style is there to it? Are we on the ugly page of the Caldari design sheet again because ewar = unreasonably edgy and clumsy? Like the Blackbird? Verdict: bad & unnecessary.

MAULUS (ewar Frigate): If I was to make an educated guess, you didn't touch the Maulus very much because some developer inhouse has such a crush on the Maulus and would have pitched so many fits if that ship would have changed a lot. Wouldn't be the first time inhouse priority takes place in the gaming industry, and certainly wouldn't be the last. There was barely any silhouette change to the Maulus, sans the "edgyfied" engine stubbles to the side. I wonder how you justify so little change to the Maulus while you ripped apart an iconic shape like the Griffin. Verdict: agreeable.

Do I want to know how many of these new designs have spiffy new moving parts during warp animations to satisfy... whomever needs? I better not.
What I fail to see is the reason you had with rolling out these changes. The changes haven't been in the same instance (aka not "all support frigates") and haven't been uniform (not the same number of ships per empire was touched). Makes it look all the more willy-nilly.
I implore you to consider what you do with the previous models. There are a number of reasonable ways to incorporate them into the game. Don't waste the work.

Mining Barge / Exhumers overhauls: What I don't get is why even announcing such minor changes when there is so little difference between T1 and T2 counterparts. They have exactly the same shape, only differing in miniscule colour alterations. It's okay to see what kind of Barge or exhumer it is by counting the reactors. Tis fine. These are industrial ships, they have to be practical, and their chassis screams expandability, which is duly met. A few extra polygons wouldn't have killed you though. My issue is with the lack of T2 adaptation visuals. Just another paintjob, eh?

Not going to talk much about the balance pass for mining ships. There are ups and downs to them. Admittedly, I like the change to have 2 mining modules per ship across the board and then alter bonuses to them. This improves first-glance comprehension.
I expected nothing from the previous announcement which included no changes based on serious community feedback. My expectations were met. But overall, the changes here go in a direction I can get behind.

I'm out of time for now, the rest looks so-so. Always nice to see fixes done (which should've been done months, if not years ago, considering their glaring oversight) and as far as UI goes... gotta be honest, don't care much. Still using as many old interfaces as I can since the new ones are left wanting.

Oh, huzzah! Here I thought the warp gates disappearing was just because I'm on the Linux client, and this was some DX11/DX9 mismatch. Looks like all you people are suffering it as well. So, um, yay?

No the joke is perfect, because all these know-nothings assume that when an art object is created it causes the entire workflow of CCP grind to a halt. Or that the time spent on shiny ships was somehow wasted that could have been spent on re-working TiDi or some ****. Art team does the art stuff, period.

Ok didn't read this thread, but what is up with the "PC" tag in the name of their thread? Is there another way to play EVE other than via a PC? Or is their a Mac feedback thread somewhere or something?

I wonder, is this post an indication of bad reading skills or moderate trolling skills?

And the Art team has done a pretty darn good job with these new design updates imo, i like every one of them, and especially the Griffin is a huge improvement

Barges look amazing! Great work aside from having to fix the fit of like 20 barges all good. Now have quite a few extra strip miners though. Any info on those skins be good Morphite looks great.

The malediction model is bugged.

The armor plate on the bottom of the bow that retracts during warp is permanently stuck in it's closed position.

I hope CCP Pointybits can get on the case so my OCD doesn't kill me.

Not too happy about these new changes.

- instead of making mining more engaging it has become more dull
- Hulk is less effective now with rest bits of roids with only 2 lasers instead of 3
- Hulk design is not in compliance with the number of laser fittings now
- Mining battleship is back on the menu

- Some redesigns look even worse then before e.g. probe, bantam except maulus, slasher
- Mining vessels design too similar again. Not much variation added to see a real unique difference from a distance.

Looks like dumbing down the specific artstyle and mining playstyle to me.

Thanks for the not so great update! Cry

Totally. I have spent the past three years turning myself into a quietly successful high sec. miner with some manufacturing interests and, without warning, my favourite and most dependable ship has been trashed by a committee of people without anybody bothering to ask. Would ORE corporation really do that to one of their more desirable models? I doubt it.
