Mineral prices will go up. The dirty reason no one is talking about.

With the changes to off grid boosts coming ore output is going to drop. Here's the rub. Most hi-sec ore (percentage of production) is done by bots/scripts. (I have no proof, just my take). When Orcas become worthless to the botters, production of ore will see a significant and measurable drop.

Null ore production will drop too, but that's because most folks won't want to put a Rorq on grid, even with the PANIC button available.

Discuss.

It would be trivial to automate the Orca boosts in highsec, assuming that many people are actually botting. Which they're probably not. CCP has demonstrated a decent ability to purge most bots, about half of them before they can even train into a barge.

Orcas would be more gankable in high after the changes, but they'd still be as prolific there. Rorquals, on the other hand, who knows how people will adapt.

So much fail in this....Because...botters...and null miners...can't...use...an...orca? Or the other mining command ship, you know Rorqual isn't going to give that much of an increase over Orca right?

If I win please Evemail me.

There might be a few days where slow bot users/creators will be playing catch up, but as Ria says it'll be trivial to automate on-grid links. If they can automate strip miners, then they'll be able to automate command bursts too.

The interesting thing will be the fitting requirements for the new modules, and the kind of tank newly on-grid Orcas will fit.

Nobody has exact numbers or proof about botting, so it's difficult to estimate how much minerals (or whatever) come from bot users. But personally I don't think there are that many high sec botters as some people seem to think (like you, I have no proof, just my take).

I have been mistaken in many different MMOs for being a bot, just because sometimes I tend to play crazy hours routinely, but I obviously wasn't botting, I just enjoy mindless repetiton at times, and when it comes to semi-afk friendly games like EVE many highsec miners are human beings.

I've spent some time in heavy mining high sec systems here and there, and although some people look like bots with their 10+ alts and all, I managed to talk to some of those miners and find they are just regular human players who don't like talking in local.

Counterpoint: the delta between orca and rorqual bonuses is that huge. 0.0 won't be affected all that much even if no one uses rorquals.

Counterpoint: with timed boosting, it's viable to use the Orca as an ore hauler, freeing up an account slot for additional ore production.

Minerals will not go up because of mentioned reasons. Alfa clones will have much bigger impact, in both production and consuming, IMHO. What will go up is meta modules, especially meta 4 guns.

The question is, who will use the alpha clone?

How many current subscribers will stop paying/plexing for an alt account (or several alt accounts) and just be happy with alpha clone?
How many new players will use it? Will they play the game for more than 2 weeks?
How big percentage of them will convert to omega?

If someone could give some ballpark guesstimate percentages in relation to current player base, that would be golden information from which it would be easier to guess what will happen to the market.

Check this thread. Swarm of freebie-hungry players like the one, that started linked thread, will stop the subscription and grind in alpha clones for a PLEX. It is not only about them being arm - it is also about being able to get something for free. Make your ego boost by being so smart, that you can use something for free, where other, 'not so smart' people, have to pay. Even if it is combined with tedios activity.

Not a market related comment, but personally I would have loads of alpha toons in loads of holes. If I find an interesting hole with scanning toon I'd just plug a simple probing alpha toon there. Not as a 'scout' in tradiotnal sense, but just so I can find it again at some indefinite future when I feel like visiting that hole again. HS/LS connections are usually very easy to probe and dun need much SP for it.

Just to add, there are also certain toons that require more SP than what alpha toons can use, but you don't need them every day/month. When a special situation calls for it you just PLEX for a month to activate Omega limited stuff. Say if you have a HIC/dictor/cyno pilots spread across lots of places, and just let them stay as alpha, you could plex them when something big calls for it. You will be paying for a PLEX to have a cyno/bubble available immediately if it's important enough.

If CCP goal is to get number of accounts high - that would be possible. But I think they want to maximize the amount of players, accessing the game simultaniosly. And if it is so, it will be hard to have more than 1 alpha account accompanich your main account... Not much space for ' loads of alpha toons', IMHO

Aaron, yes I understand there will be resrictions on simultaneous log in, but the thing is I donot need to 'monitor' all these holes simultaneously. I just keep a list of my alpha toons and the holes they are in, and only need to log in the toon that's in the hole I want for that day. They are only there as a place holder,

People that can sub by plexing already do so. Even with current trial mechanics, 21 days are enough to get the ISK for a plex if you have some guidance. On the other hand, EVE's low retention rate limits the scope of this behaviour.

I might consider an alpha toon for FW but that is about it. If there wasn't any restrictions on the alpha account, I would use them in a better capacity.

The most annoying for newer corp members is that our 24/7 booster program has to be locally in the belts now. That will kill a lot of efficiency for sure. Lots of people cant afford losing an Orca.
