CCP will not return a mission item if it is stolen and an offer has been made to return it for ISK. You might be lucky and find a DERP admin probabbly one who supports botting that might help you but it's just pure luck who's desk the petition lands on.

Furthermore eve is a sandbox game unlike world of war craft that is a linear MMO. There are many linear MMO's and single player games that you may choose if you dislike playing with real players. PVE is a condiment to the PVP meat that EVE is famous for.

If you don't like lvl 4 missions go try incursions they are great isk per hour and oh wait, :)

Oh also rats won't shoot me unless I engage them my standing to your rats is too high.

once an agent asked me to go find a Kurlan naiskos to give to some bald captain but after I'd finally rescued the artifact from the two dozen Blood Raider orphan children that guarded it I forgot which pocket I put it in and sent it through the wash and my agent was all like Sad and that made me all like Sad and so we were both like SadSad but together

So I'm guessing that the reason to not shoot is that most mission runners wont have a point to hold him, so he can warp off and come back in something shiny?

So I guess if you did run misisons with a point you probably could safely pop him? That could almost be fun.

Better not - he'll most probably mimimi and quit EVE because he got booted by a mission runner.

And we all know how this could end.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaZJBjjENc0

Not sure if serious? I haven't run missions in forever. I know there is the likelyhood of his friends rolling in to help gank. But it seems generally if you can stop him from getting away he obviously cannot warp off and quickly re-ship. But I'm sure I am missing other aspects of this situation.

It doesn't really matter if you pop him or not.
He will still come back with a mightier ship by getting away in his pod.

If you get his pod as well, maybe, if its in another system, but most likely you are in a BS or BC, so he will have enough time to get away before you lock on him.

And he will also get the 15m in which he can try and find you, and blow whatever you are flying, unless you stay docked for 15 minutes.

If you cleared everything, you can either align to station and start shooting him, and warp-dock when he dies or runs away.
Or, 99% of the time you can get the mission item from the market, so just ignore the little bugger. Don't even talk to him.
He will be annoyed and wasted his own time.

Your entire corp gets aggro on them. Keep some friends standing by for some fun. A swift tackler (interceptor) is important to get them scrammed and hold them in place for the big guns to warp in and hammer them.

I'm in a 2nd or 3rd room of my mission. No sentry guns or Concord nearby. If I shoot him, will Concord appear from nowhere to fry me? Or will I loose security standing? Or both?

Pollo approves of you always shooting reds. This teaches them not to mess with the flagships of the 5 races in EVE.

Remember what Pollo has taught you, target yellows, shoot reds, loot then scoot. Pollo approves of this method.

Ok, I see this discussion went beyond this topic :-)

If realism is what it should be, then Ok, I should be then able to either 'take matter in my hands', or, file a lawsuit to Concord, correct?

I mean, if this is not a game, but should mimic real life (as some of above comments show), then in real life you can also do one of these two options, right?

If it is 'just a game', then it should make at least mission-critical-loot not be loot-able by anyone else except player that is doing the mission.

Because, this now feels more like harassment. So every time I log in, I have to check if some of players I have marked as loot stealers, is online, and constantly monitor my local and overview if they will appear or not.

I'm not playing in lowsec or null, I am playing in highsec for obvious reason not to be bothered by other players. And now suddenly I am, and there's nothing I can do about it. Well, there is, but likely guy is having his alt cloacked nearby with DPS battleship.

I don't have a problem to loose a ship, that's only a game. I can proudly say I lost at least 8 Drakes so far :-) But I do have a problem to be bothered when I do single-player mission, and because of some rat, have to wait for DT to do it again, just because anyone can loot mission-critical item.

At the end, I just bought off the market for 200k some militants. But that's not the way I should be doing missions, right? What's the point if every time I end up buying items to finish mission?

Two points:

Firstly, someone who steals is a thief. The title of this thread should be 'Question about loot thieves'. For **** sake. Barbarians.

Secondly, this game is not played in a vacuum. People who are more attentive, more intelligent, and more prepared should get an advantage. So if you want to be serious about your level four or whatever the hell it is you're doing, get to know the neighborhood. I don't mean you literally have to know each person in the system on a first name basis and ask about their kids, but you shouldn't have the blinders on.

You're an intelligent adult. People fall into habits easily. You should learn who the local mission invaders are and what kind of threats certain ships are.

If you just want to herp all the derps and drunkenly careen from level 4 agent to plus-filled room, then expect to have a rougher time than the people who keep their head on a swivel.

To attack this issue from the other side, this sort of thing is exactly what the butterfly effect trailer was talking about. This game allows everyone a chance to get in everyone else's biznass. If it weren't for people ******* other people's ****, this (already bad) game would have basically no merit whatsoever.

If he is stealing loot, he is definitely prepared for this and you should not touch unless you are absolutely sure you know what you are doing.

Most likely sequence of events...

"LOL my mission ship has point, I popped his crapship" (he warps away in his pod)

....1 minute passes...

..."hmm, what is this T3 cruiser doing here tackling me" -> your mission ship is toast.

Never shoot someone unless you are in a PvP fit ship fully prepared to lose it. Virtually every day another 1billion ISK mission fit bling bling ship goes down in flames somewhere in EVE because it was piloted by a dim-witted mission runner who did not understand this.
