Camera and Fighters - am I doing it wrong?

Aye lads. I have a question for the vets. I have these weird things happening in both tactical and orbital camera (switching to first person and back gets rid of some of it) and more importantly, I only understand half of what I'm seeing. I am talking about controlling Fighters from a Carrier with the fighter UI detached (will check if that makes a difference)

Aura didn't have a peep to say on the matter, neither did Google. And so I come to you. These are the scenarios; I'll tell you what I see and what I think is wrong with it. Please advise if you're in the know!

1) when I send a squad off using Q-click-click it moves. It also produces a blue circle and a blue line towards it. When I give another command (eg, attack) this waypoint remains visible. How do I get rid of it?

2) I'm seeing blue trajectories for my squads, generating three circles around the carrier and three circles around the intended target. How can I get rid of those, and why do they persist until I change camera modes? Also ... what is their function?

3) where do I see the distance from a selected squad to its target? I only see the distance from the target to the carrier.

4) when giving an attack command, a red line indicates its target. When switching camera modes, this line is no longer there. Is there a way to make these lines either always visible, or never visible at all because some information sometimes isn't helping.

5) similar to 4. Blue spheres around the selected items (squads, carrier, or both). Is there a way to turn these off because this information is already on the UI and it interferes with POS shields and warp bubbles. Especially in orbital mode such behaviour is peculiar. I could live with the blue bubble thingie following your selection if there was a way to deselect all. ...is there?

6) Some technicalities I can't seem to find a straight answer to:

- does NSA improve sensor strength (ECCM) for fighter squads?
- since a fighter squad behaves as one unit, am I correct in assuming 1 jam jams all 9 fighters?
- do fighters auto-attack back like drones do; and if so, where did that setting go? (it used to be in the drone window, which is hidden)

7) ...was going to ask "where's the fighter DPS in the fitting window" but I know it's bugged. Just throwing this out here. CCP. Fitting window. Fighter deeps pretty pls? Thank you.

As you can see ... lots of questions; no up-to-date tutorial seems to exist, Youtube vids only cover the basics; and some of the vets still used to old-style carriers don't know the answer either. Sauce anyone? I desperately need to un-clutter my graphics pls help

First, could you upload screenshots and/or a video of this? I cant fly a carrier just yet myself, but a lot of what you're talking about seems like it might be stuff related to the tacmap option (the one that gives the range markers, velocity indicators, etc. The bubble stuff? Not entirely sure. When in doubt, try going to default settings/overviews.

Can take a screenshot, yes- how to upload to the forum?

Edit: the bubbly stuff doesn't apply to subcaps

The only way to tell the distance is to click attack and see from the message (if they are out of lock range) how far they are.

NSA increases ECCM strength. Still not a lot, quite easy to jam.
1 jam jams all 9 fighters
Fighters do not auto attack back.

I thought fighters were in groups of 3 and each group of 3 is counted as 1 entity meaning you need 1 jam per group of 3?

Depends on which one it is -- heavy support is in groups of three; anti-fighter-fighters grouped per 12 and regular per 9.

New to carriers ..... where would you want me post it? Aura stops dead in her tracks by the time you make a jump, dock, 'move the camera' and receive a free Venture ; she doesn't tell you jack about jumpdrives (which, luckily, I had an excellent mentor for) and the player maintained knowledge base hasn't been upgraded since the cap patch.

Which leaves me with questions not covered anywhere. It's not 'general discussion', it's not a player feature or idea, it's not ships & modules -- it's a genuine newbro question mostly about the camera... even though it only manifests itself in the fighter interface.

For all I know this peculiar behaviour is a bug- I have no frame of reference. It's my first cap that isn't a freighter or a jump freighter.

If not appropriate, please redirect to the correct forum ;-)

Upload to imgur and link here. dont believe you can attach stuff to forum posts. But as I said before, it may be stuff related to the tacmap display. Try defaulting all your settings and see if that helps.
