Multiple Characters, or just One?

I've found that having alts devalues interaction with other players for me. Why would I need someone to keep eyes on something for me when I can just park an alt there, etc. etc. Game mechanics are very conductive to having alts though, so ultimately, it's up to the individual to decide.

Basically, make an alt if you have a need for one. But if you don't have a need for one, then it can wait.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

My 2 cents

I have several accounts for a specific reason.

To train faster.

When you will know this game more you will notice some skills take even 2 or 3 real time weeks to be trained, so if you want your chars to have access to the best weapons/tools/ships it will take you a long time, months or even years.

My strategy is to separately train a explorer, a pvp char and so on, each of them specifically for the ships/tools I want to use.

It's expensive but if you are not very patient it will take to the most difficult/rewarding activities earlier, so you will earlier know if you really enjoy and like this game....

oh, and I forgot to say that when you create a new account you have access to special discounts for recurring subscriptions ( it happens once only ), so if you have some money to spend all at once it would be cheaper than using training certificates to train multiple chars on the same account.

In the future you can always merge accounts if you want, but it comes for a price so it makes the discount a bit less cheap actually... Roll

From my brief readings, it seems safe to assume those that say they have no alts, actually have an alt or two... or three.

I run three accounts with eight characters total. The ability to be in three places at once can be very handy when looking for content, especially when you live in a wormhole. It also makes general logistical tasks a lot easier.

The only time I would say multiple accounts become *mandatory* is when you own a ship with a jump drive. You can't always get someone you can trust to light you a Cyno where they say they will or when you need it most. You kind of need the ability to light your own on demand.

On my accounts, the three that are training are:
2x Combat focused characters.

1x Utility Character. Need a Viator run made? Check. Need to anchor a T2 large bubble? Check. Perfect probing skills? Very close. Got data or relic sites to hack? Check. Need some additional drone DPS from a friendly VNI? Check. Huge wreck field need salvaging? No problemo. This guy only has 11m SP and is all kinds of fun to fly around.

Then we have a Jita Trade Alt (this alt incidentally).

Four Planetary Interaction alts round it out. 3x CCU IV/IPC IV and one with V/V. One of these alts can also sit in an Astero and play cloaky combat prober with ok'ish probing skills.

This is my Forum Main. My Combat Alt is sambo Inkura

Then I suggest you do more than just a brief reading.

Also never assume anything ..........................

I typically use one account, 2 characters in the account, with the alt trained a bit, so it can perform multiple roles. Characters share the same last name, so I guess my main (I'm the alt) is easy to guess/find.

I like this idea. If I ever need to make an alt, something that's unlikely to happen in quite a while, both characters will share last name.

Definitely worth it, if you join a corp or form one of your own having more then one skilled player helps avoid some nasty people here because some are obsessed crazed blood thirsty ravenous creepers that are here in eve, make a station alt who can build, reprocessing, etc, and another that can haul, and a toon of your choice PvP or PVE.

Then once you have trained them in their own focused roles you can expand their skills to overlap so this way your not gimped when playing, I found it very useful.

Also if you want to skill up faster \0/ hooray for skill injectors.
